The Fast & Furious franchise has already proven its vigor as a cash-cow blockbuster franchise, but after six installments there are some new and very serious questions hanging over the next movie, Fast & Furious 7. The franchise was revitalized by director Justin Lin – who helmed the series from Tokyo Drift through F&F6 - but Lin left due to a rushed turnaround in production, and director James Wan (Death SentenceThe Conjuring) took his place.

While fans remain skeptic about a celebrated horror director taking over a blockbuster action franchise, Wan is apparently joining the list of directors who are masterminding their own viral marketing promotion via social media – and he’s doing it in a big way.

Check out the image Wan posted via Twitter, revealing the new hot ride of the villain who will terrorize Dom (Vin Diesel), Brian (Paul Walker) and the rest of the gang in Fast & Furious 7:

As captioned in the photo, the car in question is an Aston Martin (we’ll leave it to you F&F gearheads to identify the particular make and model). Presumably the car will be driven by Jason Statham’s character, Ian Shaw, the brother of Owen Shaw (Luke Evans), the villain who Dom and Co. put down in F&F6.

A button scene at the end of part 6 tied the series together with spinoff story of Tokyo Drift, and introduced Ian Shaw as a mastermind threat who is not afraid to get his hands (or his car) dirty with a little vehicular homicide. But unlike his brother Owen’s utilitarian car designs, Ian Shaw looks like he truly does ride in style; seeing him wreck the car in that photo would be a bit of horror for hot-rodders Wan is trying to win over. So don’t be surprised if that’s exactly what happens.

Fast & Furious 7 will bring back Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster,  Tyrese Gibson and Tokyo Drift star Lucas Black - while introducing franchise newcomers like Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa and Kurt Russell.

What do you think of the car?

Fast & Furious 7 will be in theaters on July 11, 2014.

  1. why didn’t they just make it a transporter crossover?

    • that wouldn’t be believable, Jason statham wasn’t an assassin in those, so it wouldn’t make sense as to why he was killing someone (for pay obviously)

      • Guess you’re right.

They could have explained it quite easily tho. Just have the dude he killed be linked to the murder of that freckled chick he ended up with in Transporter 3.

I just feel like the 2 franchises are so similar that a crossover would be easy, but yeah given the backstory they’ve already established in the brief F6 epilogue it would be difficult. You’ve got me there.

        • but I do agree on the whole having a transporter/fast and furious crossover would be crazy awesome though if they hadn’t have established Jason statham as a bad guy already

      • For honor. Luke evans said his team was all abt precision (just like transporter). we never knew the transporter background. Just military from america (I believe). Vin and his crew just killed my brother?! I’m going to take out everyone on your team starting with the asian.

        • well I guess so, but even then that seems like a stretch to me, since statham wasn’t really all that bad of a guy (even though he was involved with them from time to time without knowing the contents of his deliveries) I would assume he would know his brother was a bad guy that was up to no good and would deserve it if he were caught/killed, at least that’s what it would seem to me, lol now I wanna go watch the transporter movies all over again

    • That would have been epic imho.

    • Didn’t Jason Statham ride off into the sunset in Italian Job driving that exact Aston Martin?

      Just saying.

    • different studios as john campea from amc movie talk said plus it would never work if they did a cross over

    • Transporter Crossover ? Jason would probably kill them all… that why.

  2. Wan a great director, Fast a great series, cant wait for the revenge angle, and the impending Kurt “Stuntman Mike” Russel addition to the franchise in Fast 8.

    • that would be so awesome if he really reprised that role lol, or even hinted to it in some way

      • He will though, it was announced quite a while ago.

    • Kurt is debuting in Fast Seven.

  3. gonna be sweet, especially since they’re getting tony jaa and djimon honsou (if rumours are correct) :D this franchise is like the younger brother to the expendables, just like how machete is the mexican cousin of expendables :P

    • @ jwalka
That was a good one. :)

  4. I think it runs in the family because Owen Shaw had one. LOL

  5. would be cool if it all came back to the killing of johnny tran that’s why they star going after tortto and his gang.

    • that would be cool

  6. Villain car revealed? That makes it sound like the car is evil.

If you want an evil car then how about Christine (Stephen King) or The Car from the James Brolin movie of the same name. The devil incarnate in a car up against the Fast and the Furious. Now that would be a movie! Nothing like some fast paced action combined with the supernatural.

  7. Well, it’ll be the closest we’ll ever come to seeing Jason Statham as Bond… And a ticked off James Bond at that. I hope they make the character suave and sophisticated, the next Bond film is too far away, and Statham plays that kind of character well. I believe this will be the first time I cheer for the antagonist.

    • I always thought statham would have been an awesome choice for a james bond, he really seems to have that charm to him

  8. fast and furious = gay
you for reading this = gay

  9. FF7 DB7

  10. While I was waiting for the return of the villain from the fast and furious 2 movie. Jason Statham could’ve been pain by that guy they nailed and now he was out to get revenge using (the transporter) who changed his ways after that freckled chick got squished in the tank scene in Fast 6!
