Vin Diesel Says ‘Fast & Furious 7′ Will Be Set in L.A.

vin diesel fast furious 6 riddick Vin Diesel Says Fast & Furious 7 Will Be Set in L.A.

The Fast & Furious franchise has been on the road for quite awhile (pun). The franchise began in Los Angeles, before subsequent sequels moved the adventures of Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) and their gang to the roads of Miami, Tokyo, Mexico (after stops in LA and DR), Brazil and Europe, respectively.

Along the way, the franchise has evolved from street racer sub-culture expose (with dashes of crime-drama action) to a full-on crime-drama action franchise (with dashes of street racer sub-culture). This transition remains a divisive issue for the fanbase, with some fans of the earlier films loudly condemning a perceived “loss of roots” in more recent films.

Well, fans on both sides of the Fast & Furious division can maybe appreciate this latest bit of news: Vin Diesel is claiming that Fast & Furious 7 (currently in production) will be bringing things back around to LA. As reported by Variety, the following quote came from Diesel during an after party for Fast & Furious 6‘s premiere:

“I told the Universal people there was no way we were not having a Los Angeles premiere,” Diesel said. “One other thing: For ‘Fast and Furious 7,’ we are bringing it back to Los Angeles!”

  1. Is Vin Diesel going through a mid life crisis?

  2. Going back to LA is just an excuse to keep costs down and get into production quicker than if they had to fly everything to a different country or pay non-local companies for tjeir work.

    Smart move really.

I don’t like the franchise but I’ll be watching the 7th one purely for the guy they have at the end of number 6.

    • well if you saw the end of FF6 then you would see why… have you seen FF6?

      • Nope and I refuse to. I’ll just catch the button scene that SR told us about months ago once the movie’s out on DVD for a legal and HD viewing of a pretty cool addition to the franchise.

Seriously though, since IM3 came out last month, I’ve had no reasons to go to the cinema until Man Of Steel so i get to save my money avoiding stuff I know I won’t like.

        • Although….

          *SPOILERS*

I thought it was supposed to show Han’s death in Tokyo. So basically, everything that happened after film 3 was actually between movies 2 and 3 as well as simultaneously?

          • They do show that in the little scene you dumb ass………… 7 will start where 3 left off.

          • Why do you have so much to comment on a film you neither like or plan on seeing?

          • Although filmed and released in a different order, The Fast and the Furious movies are in following fictional chronological order:

The Fast and the Furious – June 22, 2001
            Turbo-Charged Prelude – June 3, 2003
            2 Fast 2 Furious – June 6, 2003
            Los Bandoleros – July 28, 2009
            Fast & Furious – April 3, 2009
            Fast Five – April 20, 2011
            Fast & Furious 6 – May 24, 2013
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift – June 4, 2006
            Fast & Furious 7 – July 11, 2014

        • IM3 was a pretty awful movie. Worst of the series by far. Not saying FF6 will be better but IM3 can’t be your measuring stick for summer movies. It’s only doing well in the b.o. because it’s riding the Avengers wave.

          • Exactly. IM3 was just pathetic. It turned into Batman Forever

    • Actually filming in other countries is a LOT cheaper. They give better tax breaks and incentives to have “hollywood” in their country. LA charges obscured rates. This is why a lot of films and TV shows are filming in Canada for instance. My brother works for Universal Studios as a writer on a show on the Sci-Fi channel and rather than use their own city or actual studios, they fly to Canada for a few weeks at a time.

    • Dudes aight

      • I don’t think any of you guys watched the extras for FF3: Tokyo Drift, the majority of the film was filmed in LA. It was made to look like Tokyo especially for the chase scene that killed Han.

  3. How do I get to be in the film ?, please email me back thanks mike.

    • Get a decent tuned car and live in the LA area and be part of the racing scene and they way ask you to be in the back ground like they did with the original

  4. Fast Five is one of the best action movies I have ever seen. Just watched it. It blew my mind. It’s up there with Die Hard, Speed, Commando and Face/Off for me. Hats off to Justin Lin, I hope he gets the terminator or Transformers 5.

    • I liked Fast Five as an action movie and did NOT consider it with the rest of the films. I loved it too.

Just saw 6 and I have to say that it trumps Five! It’s worth the ticket to see it on the big screen.

  5. Having seen the film weeks ago in Miami for the London Premier (via satellite) this bit of news makes sense.

    SPOILERS——

At the end of the film, the audience see Ian Shaw take his revenge by first targeting Han and exploiting the situation at hand to make it appear look like an accident in the context of the preceding chase from DK in The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift. At the end of that film we see the new character, Sean, the new Drift King, race with an old friend of Han, Dominic Torreto. So my question is- will the film show that scene and then have Dominic meet up with everyone in L.A? Or would they actually explore him and the gang looking into it more closely?

Ian did call Dominic to make it clear that he was after them. So why not stick around Tokyo for clues?

    • Bit like when Dom when all Sherlock on Letty’s crash in Fast and Furious.

  6. wait what?? back to la?? fast 7 should start were tokyo drift ended. Hope they bring back lucas black

    • FF3 is considered really not to be with the franchise. Even with Han in it many people don’t really like that one. You see how they changed Han death at the end of Fast six. It’s like they totally removed FF3 from the FF franchise.

      • I just saw the movie 2 days ago, and when I saw the last scene in the after credits, it wasn’t nowhere near different than it was in Tokyo Drift. If you re-watch FF3, then the FF6 after credits scene, you’ll notice that they’re both the same. Tokyo Drift is still part of the franchise since it has both Han and Dom in it. The way they did the FF6 in the after credits scene was so well made, it connected perfectly with Tokyo Drift, along with how every angle shifted with each take.

    • Ya I also want the lucas black back in the series

  7. I wish people who don’t like these movies would just go away. It’s always the same crap from them. But anyways, I can’t wait to see this, judging from the trailers, I already know I’ll like this.

  8. I’m not really sure if I’ve see fast 6 yet.

  9. So I just ruined the film for myself. I don’t care. But the tie in is perfect. Now… lets see if they tie in TDK trilogy into the MOS franchise as seamlessly as that.

  10. fast 5 was awesome. Revived the franchise. Seldom does such a thing happen. Now fast 6 is not as amazing as fast 5 was. Its a good action movie but its with a couple of sub plots going on and that take a lot of time. I dont mind it but just on a start to finish action basis, this film doesnt match up to fast5. My suggestion would be dont watch fast5 right before u go for this one cause then it would be very disappointing.

    • Not really. I believe that Fast 6 was just as good as Fast 5. Fast six has more action, racing, etc. It was REALLY good and believe to be even better than fast 5. I got the chills on some parts of fast 6 that were absolutely amazing!

  11. i just watched fast 6 was excellent i believe that fast 7 is a bit of short notice but people who love the mvoies will always be patient for the nnext one to come out. for the hate comments dont bother commenting if you dont like it there nough said

  12. brllaint, captivating, on the edge thrills, stunts and outrageously RIVETING ! that what FAST N FURIOUS 6 brings along, worth the wait and continuity it has brilliantly picked up from F5, with additional cast of john dwayne in f5 and now gina carano and fw others is simply aseeome and engaging ! gET A Feeling that it the mvie of 2013 and will cross the expectations of IM3 technically and financially with a differn taste though being differnt genres and fanbase…Hope to cath it around in real 3d ths time…CONGRATS ON ADVANCE BOX OFFICE VICTORY TO ENTIRE FAST AND FURIOUS 6 AND JUSTIN LIN…fINALLY GET TO THE MAN-JASON STATHAM , SAD THAT PROBLY MIGHT BE THE END FOR HAN , AS HE LOSES HIS GIRL IN F6…EMOTIONAL STUFF…Jasaon will add a new dimension and hope to see LUCAS BLACK TOO, was good and fab…shud be in mann , hope vin n the nu director n producer will consider the same….meanwhle bask in the triump and successful glory for all the hard effort and toil… Cheers guys :)

    • Never write when you’re drunk man…

  13. Here’s hoping they bring back the cute girl from Tokyo Drift.

  14. Am I the only one that thought fast 6 was meh. I mean I rarely bother to go see movies in theaters. Also Too many American cars for my taste, just a few European cars sprinkled here and there, but mostly hidden in the background. It was exactly what I expected it to be- an action flick with random explosions.

    • Lol at too many American cars that’s how fast 1 started than they took it and tried to put way too many foreign cars in the rest. I like the development of the franchise, but muscle is where it is.

      • Muscle cars look and sound awesome – I don’t mind if they crop up more often!

  15. I think Shaw is with Han’s friend (Boss) that Sean beat to kick him out of Tokyo. The guys father is working with Shaw.

    • That’s not a bad idea.. I would really like to see another tokyo movie

  16. i really like all the fast and furious movies i think there all awesome.I just hope they keep making them has some of the best actors and some of the sexiest actresses making movies today!

  17. its not shaw its his brother obiosly and i think it sucks that they screwed up how han died at the end of 6 there was story bihind his death in tokyo and now its revenge

  18. هلا

  19. From another site: “Fast Five – The gang steal four brand new Police spec 2011 Dodge Chargers. When Brian and Dom yank the safe out, the Chargers they’re driving are older spec, with the old tail lights. Han and Roman are seen driving the other, new Chargers later in that chase.”

  20. then sean have to come to los angeles I really want him for next movies

  21. All I gotta say is.. I FREEKEN LOVE ALL OF FAST AND FERIOUS MOVIES.. They are awsome.. The Bestes of all Kinds :))

  22. Fast 1 brian o connor joins crew doesnt bring dom to prison, lets him go
2 fast Dom flees to mexico, brian has clear his record for letting dom go

Fast 5 Luke hobbs goes after entire doms team including dom, brian and crew.

fast 7 after vinces, gisselle, hans, deaths dom must form a new team and meets new crew members in Los Angeles. ian show finds dom in la and hobbs finds out his plan and helps dom try and take him down.

  24. Love f&f movies

  25. My only question would be about the ending of tokyo drift when Dom meets and races sean! How did he get there!? Does he maybe recruit Sean to the yeam of drivers!?!

  26. Fast and furious is my favorite series! I specially liked vind deisel, but they droped him tokyo drift which was very bad…

  27. I think its great that it all comes back to Los Angeles. It ended there in FF6, why would it move somewhere else in FF7 if Shaw is the one looking for Toretto…?

  28. I feel that is the most critical info for me personally. And i’m content reading through ones content. But desire to comments on some fundamental points, Your website fashion is actually superb, the particular articles or blog posts is very great : Deborah. Excellent work, all the best
