New ‘Fast & Furious 6′ Featurette: More Story and Character Details

Published 2 years ago by , Updated March 3rd, 2014 at 4:40 pm,

We here at Screen Rant have spent this past month reporting (and discussing on the Screen Rant Underground Podcast) Universal’s plans after Fast & Furious 6 releases this May. That includes rushing Fast & Furious 7 into theaters by next year – thus ensuring the studio has one major tentpole enrolled for the middle of the Summer 2014 season – and, possibly, spinning off a standalone vehicle (these car puns write themselves…) headlined by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Agent Luke Hobbs.

However, for a change of pace, today we’ll just stick to talking about the NEXT Fast and the Furious movie, with our focus on a newly-released featurette about Fast & Furious 6. The video includes previously-unseen footage and details on the story, which picks up with Dom (Vin Diesel) and his fellow outlaws as they enjoy the benefits that came with stealing $100 million (during the events in Fast Five).

That Michelle Rodriguez is coming back to the franchise for Fast & Furious 6 – to reprise her role as Dom’s thought to be dead sweetheart Letty – was revealed two years ago, during the mid-credits scene in Fast Five. However, this is the first we’ve heard about the reason for her falling in with the antagonist Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) and his own team of thieving, vehicular-racing “wolves” (as director Justin Lin calls them).

Yes, the explanation for Letty’s change in loyalty is as cliche and corny as drama-stirring plot devices come, but that’s the Fast and the Furious property for you. Give screenwriter Chris Morgan credit: he’s keeping the series’ theme of modern family identity intact – by pitting Dom’s sentimentality against Shaw’s mercenary outlook – and thus, setting the stage for an emotionally-charged showdown in the seventh movie, as will be setup by the Fast & Furious 6 post-credits scene.

Fast & Furious 6 stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Gina Carano, Luke Evans, Joe Taslim and Clara Paget.

Look for Fast & Furious 6 in theaters (regular and IMAX) on May 24th, 2013.

  1. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Gina Carano… I’ve never seen a movie looking so good with so many bad actors!

    • Mannnnn this may be movie of the year for me. The amnesia thing is really really weird, but everything else is on point for me.

      • whoops, didn’t mean for that to be a reply

  2. I literally was like WHAT?! when they said that SPOILER:

    Letty has amnesia

END SPOILER: was not expecting that. should be interesting to see. I just figured she was mad or something.

    • Ýeah that was a spoilerish….lets see how it turn out to be.

  3. Mannnnn this may be movie of the year for me. The amnesia thing is really really weird, but everything else is on point for me.

  4. i think it would be cool, if in a couple of years justin lin returns to direct the Rock’s Hobbs spin-off.

  5. Your NEIGHBOR and your friend’s ex-wife NEIGHBOR are in the wrong business. If they bring down a criminal empire during car heists they could essentially make $100 million. I don’t know what the hell Shirley does that is so super. You didn’t clarify if it was grafting.

  6. Anyone else notice Braga showing up at 2:46? I didn’t realize he was coming back

    • whoa, yeah that looks like him, is it him? thats kind of another spoiler they just stuck in this featurette. i shouldve just not have watched this featurette and waited for the film to surpise me.

  7. This franchise is my guilty pleasure. They are doing something right imo.

  8. Cant comment, jus haunching back and readying to get the most eager watch of the year as well said by many…Take it or LEAVE It as a movie and the effort of the artists and entire team for keep the adrenaline and testorene pumped up friends…Jus watch n destress the 2 hrs becoz the big bucks aint benefit us , only the cast n crew of the F N f TEAM…WE SEE N NJOT, THATS IT…uNTIL THEN :)

  9. This will honestly be the first time I sit through ending credits. Hopefully Justin Lin will direct 7 also. It would be nice for someone to ask Dominic in the movie if he has heard from Leon. Damn, why didnt Jessie just give Johnny Tran the Jetta when he clearly lost at race-wars? Long franchise, but awesome.

  10. I wonder wil Tej and Suki from 2 Fast 2 Furious will be joining the cast I know that Tej was in 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast 5 and 6 but will he return in Fast 7 I would love to see Tej and Suki finally get together.
