During the Super Bowl, Universal Pictures made a big investment towards marketing Fast & Furious 6, buying a 60-second spot for approximately $7.6 million to debut the first Fast & Furious 6 trailer. Considering how big the franchise has become, and the fact that this sequel was in development before Fast Five even hit theaters, it’s not surprising.

The earlier plan was to develop (possibly even shoot) both Fast & Furious 6 and 7 at the same time, and while they’re being shot separately, the latest rumor pays tribute to the notion that the stories are very much connected, in more ways than you might have thought…

Ain’t It Cool News has the scoop on the biggest Fast & Furious related spoiler we’ve ever heard. And while it’s obviously unofficial and unconfirmed at this point, it is exciting and believable – so much so, that we wish we didn’t know.

So be warned, if you read ahead, you will be spoiled and you may just regret it…

Around the time when Fast Five was hitting the home video market, reports surfaced about the next franchise installments, with rumors indicating that Jason Statham may be the next high profile star to join the franchise.

As it turned out, Brit actor Luke Evans nabbed the role Statham was thought to take initially and Fast & Furious 6 was shot by itself. According to today’s big scoop from AICN, much of that initial plan may actually hold true.

According to their sources, at the end of Fast & Furious 6, when Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker)’s team of stunt drivers successfully help out Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) in taking down Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) in exchange for their freedom, there’s an additional scene that leads into Fast & Furious 7.

It may end up being a post-credits sequence much like the tease of Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) returning in the Fast Five button, but this one starts with an inside-car view of someone’s hands on a steering wheel of a parked car, with Japanese voices coming though a police scanner in the vehicle. An external shot reveal it to be a custom reinforced Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

The scanner asks for all units to respond to a car chase between a black and orange Mazda RX-7 and a grey Nissan 350Z, and so the Mercedes books it in pursuit. We still don’t see the driver but the Mercedes is running parallel on another street to the high-speeding Mazda and Nissan, before cutting left, onto the same road, and sideswiping the Mazda, flipping it as a result, with practically no damage to the Mercedes.

The mystery Mercedes stops and out steps… Jason Statham, as Ian Shaw, brother to Luke Evans’ character. He walks up to the flipped over Mazda RX-7 and in it sits Han Seul-Oh (Sung Kang). That’s right. The franchise has come full circle and merged with The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, director Justin Lin’s first entry into the series (he’s directed every installment since).

Mind blown? FYI, this isn’t Jensen Ames Statham from Death Race or Frank Martin Statham from the Transporter series or Handsome Rob Statham from The Italian Job, this is Ian Shaw Statham from Fast & Furious, typecast car skills included.

We can therefore assume the grey Nissan is The Drift King Takashi’s (Brian Tee) ride. Will Lucas Black return to the franchise as Sean Boswell? Hit me up on Twitter @rob_keyes and let me know if you dig this idea.

Fast & Furious 6 is directed by Justin Lin and stars returnees Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Elsa Pataky. The core cast welcomes newcomers Luke Evans and Gina Carano.

Fast & Furious 6 hits theaters May 24, 2013.

  1. I think I have just burst a blood vessel!!

Now this is awesome, exciting and dam right cool news!! Well worth a spoiler!! This is bigger than Disney buying Star Wars!!

The Rock, The Diesel and The Stath in one movie!! My balls are sizzling with NOs!!!

    • It is effing great, but not bigger than Disney buying Star Wars

  2. I’m literally crying. THIS IS GONNA BE SO EFFING GREAT

  3. Wow. I hope that turns out to be true. It sounds like a nice way to bring the timeline back into order. I wouldn’t mind at all if they went back to Japan.

  4. If this is true it would a great twist in pushing the series forward, the fight & chase scene would be amazing if they added the Transporter…

I wonder how long this Franchise can continue if Fast 7 will be the final one(maybe they spin the Rock’s character off) if so it looks like they are pulling out all the stops and maybe Lucas Black will be added to the cast as well…

  5. I read the entire article because I’m not the biggest fan of the F&F series of I don’t mind spoilers but this sounds pretty cool.
And can we officially label Jason Statham the hardest working man in the movie business??
Seriously. I can’t remember the last time a movie with Statham wasn’t in the theater, about to release or in production.
    Kudos to him!

    • indeed. I actually finally started to warm up to him

    • Same (about not really watching the Fast and Furious movies, I thought the first was bad and didn’t bother with the rest).

Saying that, I’ve been a Statham fan for years so I might check this out if true.

  6. AWESOME! Tokyo Drift was awesome, in my opinion, sorry petty critics. It still today is one of my faves, I hope this is true!

    • I still like it more than the rest and it was the first one I saw

  7. I just came.

    • Same here,twice !!!!!

  8. *gzzt*
head just exploded!too much to take in. brain on overlaod…..

  9. I just rewatched the sequence in Tokyo drift where this happens and the mercedes that hits the Mazda is silver and is definitely damaged. Would that mean they would go back and edit that part of Tokyo Drift to make it fit?

    • Yeah I just watched that to and the front of the Mercedes is quite crumpled, I suppose it could be considered minimal damage, you’re more concerned with what’s going on with Han than the other car so liberties could be taken and wouldn’t impact to greatly on things, this is still so cool!

  10. If this turns out to be true, then not only does Tokyo Drift become essential part of the series but Han’s death is no longer the accidental death caused by the high speed race escape from the DK: it is a precise, calculated assassination that seems like an accident.

Jason Statham is out for the gang. This can be an interesting way just as casting of the Rock that will expand the audience for the franchise and hopefully finish off the story (for good) in a satisfying way.

    • I don’t think it was planned so much that fans were outraged when Han was killed off, that Justin Lin had to figure out a way to make the series come full circle. This seems like the perfect way to do it though. Looking forward to the movie so much that I wish I didn’t read this article.

    • Maybe Han ISN’T dead. Maybe Statham kidnapps him to lure out the rest of the gang and the race between Dom and Sean was actual an audition to join the team in a big operation to get Han back ????

      • I like this idea, & it would finally explain why Dom, was in japan, after all this time:-)

  11. No Lucas Black from Tokyo Drift?

  12. Fast 6 will be one of the best movies out this year, that is a no-brainer!!

    • Even if Peter Dinklage turns up? 😉

      • Ummmmmm who?

        • oh I was just refering to another story you had commented on, was just being silly :-)

          • Oh right. I didn’t think anyone would take it so seriously.

            • Yeah you got pretty slated over something so small lol

Oh well, worst things have happened at see!

              • When you say “something small”….

                • haha dam the English language!

  13. I just saw the clip in tokyo drift. The mercedes hits Paul Walkers cars, not Hans. Can somebody please enlighten me?

    • Paul Walker isn’t in Tokyo Drift? That’s Lucas Black and Hans car gets hit by a silver Mercedes and flips over, no emphasis is made on the mercedes due to it being portrayed as an accident and there for not relevant to overall story so we are lead to believe, that’s what is clever about tying it in with the current movies, it’s all connected!

  14. No – wait a second………….

I’m confused here. I just reaqd this – popped in Tokyo Drift and watched the chase scene that ended up with Han’s car getting side swiped. The way it went down – is that the Porsche cut him off – he swerved or something – and was side swiped by a WHITE Mercedes.

It shows the crash from a couple different angles in the seconds afterwards – and first of all – the guy that steps out of the Mercedes is absolutely not a white guy – let alone Jason Stratham. So – if they are re-visiting THIS scene – they are changing the original events.

Han’s car was never side swiped and if you look at the roads – I don’t see a parallel road that Jason Statham could have been trailing them on – let alone cutting over to side swipe the Mazda.

    What am I missing here?

    • Well – he was never side swiped – I meant he WAS t-boned by the WHITE Mercedes…

    • We don’t know if it’s that scene just yet.

  15. I just watched the tokyo drift scene again, and the car that hits lucas is a lexus not a mercedes, a mercedes does hit hans car but it’s def not how it’s portrayed in the spoilers above. Maybe tokyo drift will be re edited. Either way sounds great.

    • The spoiler has nothing to do with what happens to Lucas Black, it’s what happens to Han!!

Han appears to die as a result of the Mercedes accidentally hitting him and flipping his car which then bursts into flames and he dies

The spoiler is elaborating on this and saying that the Mercedes hit Han intentionally because it’s actually the Stath driving who wants revenge! Which is why it is so cool

Something insignificant in Tokyo drift is actually quite a big deal in the grand scheme of the franchise!

Is I that hard to follow?

      • I understood all of that, so there was no reason to reiterate. What I was getting at was maybe knocking lucas out was Stathems plan too as the car that hits lucas is much closer to the description above rather than the silver mercedes that hits han.

        • Sorry, i think that’s just over analysing the scene IMO, the point is to link the events of Fast 4 and 5 to the death of Han in Fast 3, Lucas story is irrelevant up to this point, hes the Aaron Cross of the Bourne franchise Lol

    • *it

  16. Am I the only one hoping it was gonna be the Frank Martin Statham n impy the Transporter universe was shared with the Fast n Furious universe?

  17. This spoiler alone makes me want to start viewing the entire series from 1 to 5 all over again before I go see the 6th one. eFFFFFFFFing cool!

  18. At first I thought the spoiler was just Jason Statham being the villain, and I was like “awesome!” then I read the part about him killing Han, and I was like “HOLY F@*k! WHAT THE F@*K, OH MY F@*KING GOD!!!!!!

If this is true and this is what will be the plot of Fast 7, then I have to say, they have really out done themselves with the writing. At first I thought making Fast 6 ANOTHER prequel to Tokyo Drift was a terrible idea, but now, merging the stories and making Hans random death essential and important is just awesome!

  19. Stathem can just drive the darn silver mercedes, no big deal, doesn’t have to be the tuned up black one. He can just get the info and be in the grey mercedes and hit him and there you go. Besides if the darn car has to be tuned it can just be under the hood and/or inside, though I wouldn’t understand why that is such a big deal.

  20. han’s death is inevitable… unless… jason statham pulled han out the last minute before it exploded… took him hostage… hey statham probably didnt want an instant death for han… probably want team torreto to chase him or something just sayin :) a way to keep han in the franchise…

  21. Funny, I posted a similar idea when they were filming Fast Five, where Dom and his crew would be in Tokyo during the high speed chase event of the third movie.

  22. HOLY CHEESECAKE BATMAN!! This is the biggest spoiler ever!! I’m more excited about this than when nick fury came out at the very end of iron man and mention the two words: avengers initiative XD

  23. PURE BADASS!!!!!!

  24. Nobody actually get’s out of the silver Mercedes (with considerable front end damage), someone with long black hair and a green bomber jacket runs TO the car and looks inside, the door is already open… which is also odd, because we are lead to assume since they are in Tokyo, the driver would be on the opposite side of the car. Unless they plan on doing some serious digital fixes to the Tokyo Drift scene for some sort of re-release, it’s not going to match up with the above spoiler description. Since a re-release of drift doesn’t make allot of sense, I’m guessing we should take this rumor with a grain of salt.

  25. 7 Movies, almost rivaling Friday the 13th for record number of sequels. I guess Resident Evil is getting a sixth movie, followed by a 7th chapter to conclude that mess

  26. Awe-effing-some

  27. that horible feeling you get when you want to read the spoilers then you dont, then you do and read it and say damn why didnt i read the mummy reboot article………………………. screen rant i hate you (not really) lmao
