Vin Diesel and Paul Walker Fast Five trailer Fast Five Trailer Races Onto Facebook

Universal Pictures has made an unprecedented marketing move by releasing the first trailer for Fast Five on Facebook. While the franchise has always been in touch with its most dedicated fans, will the move prompt more excitement for the film? Only the quality of the trailer itself will tell.

Franchise star Vin Diesel’s Facebook page has nearly 20 million “Likes,” so why not debut the trailer directly to those feeds? The simple announcement of the trailer got over 20,000 “Likes.” But let’s stay focused. Trailer views don’t necessarily generate box office revenue.

Director Justin Lin is on his third turn in the franchise (Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious) and recent claims in a USA Today interview suggest it will “up the action.” The trailer sure shows it. The first look at Fast Five is a non-stop barrage of muscle, speed, power and intensity. It’s no wonder Dwayne Johnson was brought along for this ride.

Check out the trailer below:

So far, Fast Five has been met with mixed reactions. Some consider it excess, while others enjoy the franchise for what it’s worth. There is definite entertainment value in each of the previous films. The new trailer proves that there is always fun to be had on screen – when you mash testosterone and horsepower.

Fast Five brings nearly every major character from the previous four films together. The film looks to thrive on family, a central theme of the films – aside from fast cars. Dwayne Johnson’s addition is a much-needed spark in the film – even if the franchise has increased in popularity over the years. Fast & Furious had a great run in last year’s box office and ended up with a staggering $353 million worldwide.

There is no question Dwayne Johnson will add to the hype. It’s been a while since Hollywood has given us a solid fist fight. Even The Expendables was a bit of a letdown. If there’s one thing to look forward to with Fast Five, it’s the inevitable showdown between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.

Does the trailer make you want to see Fast Five or are you putting your hopes in reverse? Sound off in the comments section below.

Fast Five drifts into theaters on April 29th, 2011.

  1. I am the ultimate fan of the original The Fast and the Furious.
Its one of my Favorite Movies of all Time!! I have the whole thing memoriszed right down to the little details… mia”let me guess” “tuna no crust right?” Brian”i dont know how is it?” mia “every day for the last 3 weeks youve been coming here asking me how the tuna is…now it was crappy yesterday it was crappy the day before and Guess what? it hasnt changed” Brian..”I’ll have the tuna”mia.. “no crust?” Brian “no crust.”..Brief pause then fight breaks out..Music plays “watch your back” : ) I know everything they need to do to make this one a success. A little break down

The First Furious was excellent best one for sure. The 2nd they took out vin diesel.. now the other co-star did an allright job but it just didnt feel right. it makes the 2nd one something u would only watch once. they took vin out the loonies! you thought that was bad in the 3rd one. they took the main character walker out! the madness!! this is insanity..if the 2nd one was bad then this is blasphomey! oh they throw vin at the end… but they turned the furious franchise into another american pie franchise…where they have tons of same title movies with different characters..Fail!! Which brings me to the 4th one.. now i had high hopes for this one..walker and diesel back again the way it should be…but the plot was confusing in the end of the 1st one walker let vin’s character go,and sacraficed his career for him..Brian”i owe you a 10 sec car” they had an understanding..but in the 4th one there at eachothers throat..not to mention the same tired shots typical of these movies :Biker Boyz: 1st was great but show us some new stuff…why is Brian a cop then not, but then helps the cops. then on the fbi most wanted? see what i mean? overall the 4th was a dissapointment…but because i am such a fan of the 1st i will watch this one..they made some smart moves by of couse keeping walker and vin..then bringin luda back and the others was very smart…now lets see if they can be creative while sticking true to the original. theres more to a movie then great action scenes..which weve seen time and time again. i heard there would be a 5th and 6th one but i believe this will be the final one to bad too cause i always wanted to be a part of these movies. So for the final score: 1st is the only good one 2nd is allright once..third one is complete blasphomey!! 4th felt like a remake of the first one..waste of time..dang im so passionate about these movies i just have to stop talking cause ill go on forever!!! Go see it>>>
