The Super Bowl commercial for Fast & Furious 6 didn’t just give fans an actual title for the next installment in the resurrected series (not to mention some high-flying stunts), but video evidence that Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez) has most certainly returned from the grave.
In honor of the public excitement over Rodriguez’s return, the actress has released a new still featuring her character, proving that even death can’t take the wrench out of a gearhead’s hand.
While it’s usually Vin Diesel who releases official assets to his Facebook fans, Rodriguez was given the duty of unveiling the new photo of Lefty. Unfortunately, the photo doesn’t answer the questions bothering fans most at this point, like why the character would remain hidden from Dom (Diesel) and why she’s second-in-command to new villain Owen Shaw (Luke Evans).
What it does prove is that whatever Letty’s been doing, it’s been working. We can’t imagine how Dom will react when he lays eyes on the love of his life again, but we’re glad to see Rodriguez back in the cast. Take a look:

As the official synopsis for Fast & Furious 6 explains, Dom, Brian (Paul Walker) and enemy-turned-partner Hobbs (Dwayne ‘The People’s Champ’ Johnson) will be working together to bring down an elusive team of drivers for hire. How Letty ended up on the team and not a coffin after her reported death in Fast & Furious (2009) will probably be a pivotal plot point, but whether the film brings a reunion or another bitter farewell remains to be seen.
We’ll take this opportunity to hope that Letty’s arrival will give Dom a chance to exhibit some kind of emotion, and in our opinion, returning Rodriguez to the permanent cast – not killing her off yet again – would be the wisest move.
We’re not saying that Diesel’s performances in the last films haven’t been enjoyable (since fans clearly adore them), but a romance between the two would be a more than welcome change at this point. After all, Brian and Mia (Jordana Brewster) should have a baby arriving any day now. It deserves a happy uncle.

Any theories on how Letty is still alive? If the FBI concluded that she was dead, and their story holds up with the killer’s account of what happened, how is she still alive? Did she just limp off with injuries from the roll-over crash and a bullet wound and disappear? Was no body ever recovered?
So many questions! I am curious to see how the movie addresses this.
For all we know, the accident was probably staged. As we never actually saw the accident. What we saw was what Dom thought that happened at the scene.
I don’t know, really. It was a HUGE twist. When I first saw it, I was like “Wait, what? WHAT?!”
It’s interesting.
The killer knew what Dom was talking about and admitted to killing (or at least trying to kill) her. Her car was also recovered at the scene. So if the accident was staged, it was brilliant in that it fooled A) The would be killer, and B) Agent Brian O’Connor.
Also, if she successfully faked her death, why not try to reconnect with Dom, Brian, Mia, or anyone else?

Then why didn’t Brian know about it since he was an agent at the time? And why didn’t the Rock or Eva Mendez know that Letty is still alive and at large? What would the FBI have to gain by withholding that kind of info from other law enforcement?
