When the first trailer released a couple months back, again there were detractors, many of whom didn't think it looked much like a superhero film at all (and indeed, we didn't get to see any of the main characters fully empowered). However, there were also those who liked its low-fi sci-fi look, or were at least willing to give the film the benefit of the doubt. Clearly, this Fantastic Four was going to be a brand-new take - not just on the property, but on the superhero genre as a whole.
Since then, in footage and images, we've seen The Invisible Woman (Kate Mara), The Human Torch, and The Thing (Jamie Bell) after they've received their powers. But now, with the release of the new trailer, we're getting our best looks at those characters yet - in addition to getting our first looks at Mr. Fantastic's (Miles Teller) powers in action and Doom as played by Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).
Check out the new Fantastic Four trailer above, along with a screenshot of Doctor Doom (see below).
The trailer sets up all the important points of the Ultimate Fantastic Four-inspired origin. Young Reed Richards is working on an interdimensional science project for Dr. Franklin Storm alongside Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Victor Domashev (Doom), with a little help from tough guy Ben Grimm, for some reason.
Obviously, they successfully travel between dimensions - possibly to the Negative Zone - and receive strange and mysterious powers as a result. Reed becomes the bendy, stretchy Mr. Fantastic; Sue becomes the see-through (and more) Invisible Woman; Johnny becomes the fiery Human Torch; Ben becomes the rocky, super strong Thing; and Domashev becomes the evil, metal-faced Doom.

In the case of Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing, we get to see what they can do up close in a way we hadn't previously. We see Invisible Woman flying, using her forcefield generating powers as a concussive blast. We see Human Torch flying and "flaming on." We see The Thing just walking around being The Thing (and also punching things).
The footage of The Thing is, in fact, probably the most revealing from the trailer. He has an almost creepy, lifeless look in his eyes, like his eyes are made of rock, too (or maybe that's just poor CGI). For me, it kind of works, though I definitely want to see more before I render final judgment.
Mr. Fantastic is definitely still the most mysterious of the bunch of new characters, though we do finally get to see his powers in action...sort of.
Ultimately, the trailer paints a much more superhero-y picture of the film than the previous one. One wonders if that's misleading or not, given director Josh Trank's indications that this film will have horror elements and feel like a mix of Tim Burton and Steven Spielberg's Amblin movies.
Last but not least, here's the newest Fantastic Four poster:
