Dr Doom Mask Art Marvel Comics Doctor Doom Costume From Fantastic Four Reboot Revealed In Leaked Photos

Last week we thought we had our first unofficial look at Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing from Twentieth Century Fox’s reboot of Fantastic Four. That authenticity of that leaked image remains as much a mystery as the film itself, given that we’ve yet to see any marketing for it. Fantastic Four releases next summer in between The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man from Marvel Studios and both of those have had official marketing materials and a presence at Comic-Con. For FF, there remains nothing.

At least, nothing official. We’ve seen photos of the cast on and around set in plain clothing, and from interviews we know this modern take on Fantastic Four will be “grounded,” “different” and “darker.” We know the four heroes and we know two of the villains will be Mole Man (Tim Blake Nelson) and of course, Doctor Doom. Doom (real name Victor von Doom) – one of the greatest Marvel Comics villains – will be played by Toby Kebbell and Geek Pride may have gotten the big scoop on the first photos of this live-action version of the character.

The behind-the-scenes shots show Doom’s full costume, mask and green-tinted hood included. The entire set is green-screened and it looks as if The Thing (who will be all CGI) is about to face-off with him. The suit itself is much more organic in nature, and less formal. It’s not quite the classic armor – at least, not yet.

Keep in mind, we don’t know the context of this scene or the costume will be explained in the film or what other costumes the character may or may not wear.

One thing from the classic comics that may be a part of this version of Dr. Doom are Doombots, drones that Toby Kebbell’s character will control as his own army. That gives the young heroes some fodder to use their powers on. That idea can play to Doom’s genius intellect and abilities as an inventor. As for his own powers in a “grounded” take on the property, we’ll just have to wait and see.

What we do know is that principal photography on the Josh Trank directed reboot is complete and the film is in post-production, and that a sequel already has a release date for 2017. Fox has as much confidence in Trank, who made his mark directing the found footage film Chronicle as Disney-owned Lucasfilm who also signed the young director to help one of the upcoming Star Wars spinoffs.

  1. No mention of what looks like the Human Torch in the upper right of the second picture?

  2. In the first picture,it looks like dooms arm fell off.It looks cool,I guess?

  3. Two of the villains? Why, will there be more? Didn’t they learn something from TWO failed Spider-Man movies?

    • One of them will surely be a cameo? How can they give screen time to both mole man and dr doom? Without doing what they did with Green lantern and make one of the villains a stooge? (Cough mole man cough cough)

      • Well the Roger Corman Fantastic Four had Doctor Doom and a Mole Man expy called The Jeweler. Wait a minute they’re not remaking the Roger Corman Fantastic Four are they?

  4. Pensacola scott cagle is so jerking off right now

  5. From everything that I have read that is actually happening with this movie, I KNOW that I will not be wasting my money on this pile and I hope all the other FF fans out there also stay home. Don’t waste your money, Marvel needs to get the rights back because this one is going to stink.

    • Sure, it seems to be quite a departure from the original FF comics. Some will even undoubtedly say that it betrays the original material. However, this is a film by the guy who made Chronicle, which was pretty awesome to say the least. At any rate, it can’t be worse than the previous two movies and if you stay home, my guess is it’s gonna be your loss.

  6. I loved the actors on the previous Fantastic Four episodes. Why change them? They were excellent actors, and there were too few episodes with them. I keep watching for MORE with the same actors. to my disappointment. Bring them back, please.

    • No, they were not excellent. Jessica Alba is hot but she’s a mediocre actress at best, Michael Chiklis was embarrassing in his ridiculous rubber suit and Ioan Gruffud was too ironic as Reed Richards. Only Chris Evans nailed Johnny Storm’s character.

  7. And that’s your opinion. Let others have their own.

  8. Why do I get the feeling that if Marvel cast a black actor (Mekhi Phifer perhaps) to play Iron Fist or if the Iron Fist suit looked liked the Doom suit in that pic, no one would complain about “political correctness” or wish for the film to flop or any of that nonsense?

    Just a feeling I have.

    • You are so wrong.

  9. Oh-the Fox Fantastic Four-At this point who gives a crap?

  10. Looking back on these comments, I find it funny that people jumped down Michael B. Jordan’s throat for the “They’ll see it anyway” comment because I believe Michael Bay said the same thing prior to Transformers: Age Of Extinction and some of you still saw that fireworks display and it sure as hell didn’t flop. Plus, Bay is a thousand times more arrogant than people claim Jordan to be.

What I’m curious to know is, what’s the difference?

  11. why do we need another dr.doom movie the fan 4 had many rouges in their gallery mole man,Terrax the frightful four. I admit I googled the fours villain list and now see why Doom is the only choice

    • Umm, because the first Dr. Doom movie was a joke that raped the character sideways?

      • Well this looks like its going to be a gang bang.

        • Hahahahaha!! But seriously, how can you infer that from one very blurry photo? At any rate, even if the characters end up far removed from their original comic versions, this is a film by the guy who made Chronicle so it has a good chance of being awesome. That is, if you’re able to put your fanboyism aside…
