Last week we thought we had our first unofficial look at Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing from Twentieth Century Fox's reboot of Fantastic Four. That authenticity of that leaked image remains as much a mystery as the film itself, given that we've yet to see any marketing for it. Fantastic Four releases next summer in between The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man from Marvel Studios and both of those have had official marketing materials and a presence at Comic-Con. For FF, there remains nothing.

At least, nothing official. We've seen photos of the cast on and around set in plain clothing, and from interviews we know this modern take on Fantastic Four will be "grounded," "different" and "darker." We know the four heroes and we know two of the villains will be Mole Man (Tim Blake Nelson) and of course, Doctor Doom. Doom (real name Victor von Doom) - one of the greatest Marvel Comics villains - will be played by Toby Kebbell and Geek Pride may have gotten the big scoop on the first photos of this live-action version of the character.

The behind-the-scenes shots show Doom's full costume, mask and green-tinted hood included. The entire set is green-screened and it looks as if The Thing (who will be all CGI) is about to face-off with him. The suit itself is much more organic in nature, and less formal. It's not quite the classic armor - at least, not yet.

Keep in mind, we don't know the context of this scene or the costume will be explained in the film or what other costumes the character may or may not wear.

One thing from the classic comics that may be a part of this version of Dr. Doom are Doombots, drones that Toby Kebbell's character will control as his own army. That gives the young heroes some fodder to use their powers on. That idea can play to Doom's genius intellect and abilities as an inventor. As for his own powers in a "grounded" take on the property, we'll just have to wait and see.

What we do know is that principal photography on the Josh Trank directed reboot is complete and the film is in post-production, and that a sequel already has a release date for 2017. Fox has as much confidence in Trank, who made his mark directing the found footage film Chronicle as Disney-owned Lucasfilm who also signed the young director to help one of the upcoming Star Wars spinoffs.
