Following the debut of the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play, longtime fans of the bestselling Harry Potter franchise by British author J.K. Rowling have no doubt been thoroughly reinvested with the goings on in the acclaimed Wizarding World. And with four-time series director David Yates all set to make his return to the same fantasy realm with the theatrical release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them later this fall, moviegoers are in for their own continuation of the Harry Potter series as well.
Ahead of the film’s release, various members of the cast and crew have already heralded Yates’ latest as a timely return to the feature franchise, thus paving the way for a Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel slated for theatrical release in 2018. Whether or not Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl) will prove to be up to snuff in the role of famed magizoologist Newt Scamander remains to be seen. On that note, the latest Japanese trailer for the new Harry Potter series entry paints another exciting picture of the movie event soon to come.
In the footage featured above, distributor Warner Bros. Pictures teases potential viewers of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them with plenty of intimated sequences of theatrical spectacle and special effects wizardry to match the depicted magic and wonder of the featured fantasy world. Providing a number of brief glimpses at a wide array of the film’s titular beasts, the Japanese trailer for Yates’ latest should serve to stoke the fires of fan excitement ever higher.
Sporting the first original screenplay written by Harry Potter series author Rowling herself, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them looks ready to change the game when it comes to adapting the British best-seller’s beloved series of fantasy novels. If everything continues to go according to plan behind the scenes, diehard fans of the franchise will have a lot to love when Yate’s feature length production sees release come November 2016.
In light of the success lauded onto the most recent Harry Potter play, interest in Rowling’s highly original fantasy world has been reignited of late, which should serve to bolster the prospects of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them at the box office. Yates may have ostensibly concluded the story of The Boy Who Lived with his Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011, but his latest will stand as another novel entry point into the preceding feature franchise’s storied history and subsequent legacy.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in U.S. theaters on November 18th, 2016, followed by Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 on November 16th, 2018.
