The way I see the whole FOX not developing “Watchmen” is a classic example of having more on your plate than you can handle. They’ve had mixed success with these properties too. Who can say how much or how often they took it and passed it around the studio for someone to propose an actionable plan to make it. How many plans and or treatments of the material execs considered is unknowable here too, unless an insider is willing to step forward. It’s a good question no doubt, but one that can only be speculated about at this point.

And if you think I’m not politically correct, I personally don’t give a care. If someone is going to try to intimidate someone else into doing what they want, I will point out the similarities to what the definition of terrorism is. If you actually expect me to worry about being politically correct, then you just don’t know me. I speak frankly, matter-of-factly, I don’t really care to change my tone to be more “friendly” and less harsh, I feel that is dishonest. If you meet me in real life, you’ll see this, if I dislike you, I will tell it to your face.

I don’t know why you’re treating this guy like he’s doing anything special or unique. Trashing the party that they think is responsible for something they don’t like is the first instinct of an impulsive fool who doesn’t think real hard about morals, ethics, or consequences. He’s an idiot, regardless of how wrong Fox is. If he gets caught he should be treated like the criminal that he is. That’s my opinion.

The quick use of the word “Terrorist” in that example, reminds me of the Witch Hunts, back in Midevil times.

Anyway, regardless of whether or not Fox is in the wrong or right, someone wanting to vandalize their property is definitely the wrong way to go in my opinion…

Putting projects in “turnaround” is a very common and time-honored practice in Hollywood. It’s a way to free up a property while still keeping a string attached to it.

But just to address something you said, “responsible social action.” What Fox is doing is pretty stupid, if they really had rights to it, why didn’t they ever make a movie out of it? And if they were never planning to, why would they bother holding on to those rights? Why not just offer to sell the rights instead of trying to prevent the movie’s release? There’s obviously another reason for their actions. BUT, some wacko going around VANDALIZING posters is not anywhere close to responsible social action. Authentic movie posters usually sell for well over $100. Plastering stickers over them is vandalism. And before you say “most theaters have the poster behind a case…” plastering the theater’s case with stickers is also vandalism at worst, but just an irresponsible thing to do in general.

Kind of like blackmail but through the use of intimidation. Blackmail usually involves money and a threat to expose something about the person they are trying to influence, so that’s why I didn’t just say blackmail.

But hey, if you don’t see how they are trying to intimidate someone into doing something even though the guy said it himself, I guess it isn’t my problem… Nobody’s threatening me, so I can care less. I just think this guy’s plan is going to backfire…
