A new, behind-the-scenes video from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier shows how the John Walker fight in episode 5 came together. From the beginning of Marvel's second original Disney+ show, fans were ready for a confrontation between Bucky, Sam, and John Walker. The US government's choice as the next Captain America inspired the ire of fans everywhere because of his cocky attitude and the fact that he just wasn't Steve Rogers. As Falcon and the Winter Soldier moved deeper into its season, though, it became clear that Walker's issues were deeper than that.

Boiling under the surface of the supposed golden boy was a man filled with rage and that rage came out when he took the Super Soldier serum in the show's fourth episode. The serum served to amplify both John Walker's physical attributes as well as his underlying character traits. His inability to live up to the role of Captain America ate away at him and when he loses his partner Battlestar in a fight with the Flag Smashers, he murders one of them in cold blood. This leads Sam and Bucky to confront him as they attempt to take the shield back in one of the series' most exciting fights.

Stunt coordinator Dave Macomber shared a behind-the-scenes look at this fight, giving fans a glimpse into how it came together. The video does not feature the stars of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but it does include a full run-through of the fight itself, including baseline visual effects that were then translated into the fight seen in the actual episode. Macomber calls the fight "Civil War 2.0," calling back to the iconic fight between Bucky, Steve Rogers, and Tony Stark. Check out the full clip below:

The confrontation between Bucky, Sam, and John Walker is quite possibly one of the most important moments in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Not only does it bring the emotional aspect of John Walker's storyline to a head, but is also leads to Sam's official evolution into Captain America. John Walker's actions in the fourth episode made Bucky and Sam realize more than ever that he did not deserve to wield the shield that Steve once held and, in order to save his legacy, they make it their mission to take it back.

On top of being a feat of choreography, like the fight in Captain America: Civil War, this one is highly emotional. Bucky and Sam are fighting for Steve Rogers' legacy as Captain America, while John Walker is embroiled in his own personal conflict regarding his actions. No other action sequence in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier encapsulates the series' themes so perfectly, and a glimpse into how it came together should be satisfying for fans looking to see how a series as complex as this translates from behind-the-scenes to Disney+.
