  1. Great movie. Lots of action! Good to see Arnie, Sly, and Bruce in action together, although that scene is too short. Van Damme plays a great bad guy. Statham is cool as ever. Not enough Jet Li, I was disappointed he wasn’t in more of the movie. The scenes with Chuck Norris felt a little forced to me, although he had a couple of cool moments.

  2. Went to the midnight premiere. It was AWESOME! Loved this one and loved the first one. I definitely think this one raised the bar even higher than the first one did, in terms of pure action. The action starts right off the bat. The only thing that didn’t sit well with me was that Jet Li is only in the first like ten minutes of the movie. Anybody know why that is? It made me sad because the scene in The Expendables 1 where he and Sly have the “I’m smaller” conversation/car chase shoot-out was one of my favorite scenes in the whole film, and I was hoping to have another awesome scene with Jet Li in this one. I also loved how Chuck Norris’ character just randomly popped up at certain times to help when Barney & Co. needed it.

    • great to hear that the movie is awesome. now, it´s my fault that i have read the comments, but i´ve heard it before, so it´s no big surprise that li ´s character died.

      • actually he didn’t die in the movie. he just went off to china or something lol.

        • Yeah, he escorted (parachuted) a Chinese billionaire they just saved to China. He didn’t say he wouldn’t be back.

    • It would have dragged on to use the same humor for the second movie. It;s good they wrote him out because it’d get repetitive taking a piss out of jet li for 2 more hours

      • Hmmm. I really was looking forward to seeing the new relationship between Gunner and Li’s character. Li kicked ass and then jetted, no pun intended there. :) Hopefully if there is a 3rd movie he will be back!

  3. Sly: I heard you were bitten by King Cobra?

Chuck: After 5 days of agonizing pain Cobra died!

    Chuck is the legend!!!

    • That was by far the best line in the whole film!

      • That line was way too forced, it souldve been more subtle and serious

        • I agree that it was too forced. Chuck Norris’ character in general was too forced, and just completely unnecessary. But, regardless, was still awesome.

      • Best line in the whole movie was
        “l’ll be back”
You’ve been back enough, l’ll be back”

    • That’s a very old line, but it still worked.

  4. Its a fun movie.
The acting and some of the writing was horrible, but a fun movie.

  5. Can anyone tell me the name of the song that played during the credits?

    • I just want to celebrate by Rare Earth. I love this song

    • I just want to celebrate by Rare Earth.

      • The song is “I Just Want To Celebrate” but in a version by Los Challengers. Every knows the rest of the song that appears in the movie? Until now remember a few: Little Richard-“Rip it Up”,
Ustata-“Tochno sega”, The rascals-“A beautiful morning” y Frank Stallone-“Don´t want to fight with me”…

  6. Read in the past that Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has a cameo in this one. Does he make the final cut?

  7. EXPENDABLES was sucessful because unlike every other film this Summer, it did not try to

    Reinvent itself
    Take itself too seriously
    Shoot for an award nominaion
Try to out do its self (although it end up doing this anyway but not becaucse it tried to out do its prequal but because it was done by a better director)

EXPENDABLES 2 focused on being fun & entertaining and making sure to satissfy the movie going fan base and not any critics. Thats the recipe for success in movie making.

  8. EXPENDABLES 2 – Best Quotes

“That thing belongs in a museum..” Barney [speaking to Church about the plane Church has given to Barney as a thank you gift]

“We all belong in a museum” Trench (replying to Barney)
Follwoed by everyone smiling and trying hard not to laugh epsecially Norris.

I’d have to say that was the best punch line in the movie.

    • I thought one of the best lines in the movie the line by Arnold, who, after shooting up a bunch of bad guys hears Willis say, “Yippe Ki Yeah”..sorry, not sure how to spell all that…and then Arnold looks at Willis and says, “What’s next? RAMBO?”

  9. Anyone else suprised by how little screen time Jet Li got? He was more like a cameo appearence then in the first film. Was Jet Li to busy with other commitments to be in the film the entire way thru?

      • From what i understand, they probably save Jet Li’s character for Expendables 3… remember the rumors of Donnie Yen going to be part of the cast? I’m thinking the final chapter of that movie is going to focus totally in China.

    • @BlueCollarCritic: Li was working on another movie concurrently with Expendables 2, and the other film pretty much required Li to stay in China throughout the entire production. If you’re wondering why there was a s***-ton of credits given to Hong Kong and China at the end of the movie, the film sets had to be relocated to China so Li could film HIS portions of the movie. Kitchen fight scene? That was in Hong Kong. For all of the Bulgaria portions of the opening sequence (i.e. the jungles and exterior shots), Jet Li had a body double for those scenes.

  10. Yeah I was also disappointed with how little screen time Jet got. But the again Randy and Terry didn’t really have a whole lot of dialogue either.
But the few scenes Jet was in he really kicked some butt and won.

    • yeah, but there too many action stars in the movie. they should added more 20 minutes to the movie. so everybody gets enough scenes. its feels already squezeed. the movie should be 20-30 minutes longer

      • I thought the length was perfect. If it were 30 minutes longer I would suggest they spend time on making the transition from the first few scenes in the movie more seamless. E.g. the scene where Billy is running to meet the plane and then all of a sudden he is on the plane. Only fighter I think it would have been cool to see in some hand to hand would be Norris…but I get why he used a gun…these guys just are not as limber as they used to be when they were kings of their castles.

  11. Some of the scenes were unintentionally funny. Chuck Norris’ scenes were way forced and the final fight between Sly and JCVD was a little disappointing. Liam Hemsworth’s character was great, but it was mainly due to his performance, not the script. The knife fights with Jason Statham were amazing, but the knife sounds were exaggerated. Solid movie with tons of action and barely comprehensible dialogue. Overall: 7.5/10

  12. do they utilise scott adkins to the best of his potential in this, or is he underplayed and how long are norris, willis and arnie on the screen for. how BA is JCVD as the villain and how much screen time does he get ?

    • Scott Adkins was a JCVD’s right hand man, reflecting Jason Statham’s character to Sly’s leader of The Expenables.

He sports an atrocious East European/Russian accent and his final fight with Jason Statham was OK, if a little predictable if you’ve seen Raiders of the Lot Arc (Note to movie bad guys: stay away from the propeller!)

  13. Anyone else notice how they totally flipped Charisma Carpenter’s character in this movie? First movie yeah she cheated but you got the feeling she was a good girl that made a mistake. This one they made her seem more of a flusy during her scene at the bar before she walks over to sit down with the guys.

  14. anyone else agree that willis and arnold scenes were the best part? loved when he said his back lol then yipee kay yay so awesomee. norris cameo was pretty funny.

  15. the bruce willis and arnold scenes where awesome, opening scene was awesome. jet li’s fight was really awesome. very disappointed he didnt have a bigger role. I kept expecting him to pop up later in the movie but he never did. I wish there was more explaination of where he went. Though im glad he had an awesome fight for the short amount of time he was in it. other then that it was a great movie.

  16. which one of the team gets killed?

    • Stallone.

    • The new guy, played by Hemsworth.

  17. does van damme die

    • all the bad guys die and from the good guys hemsowrtn dies (yay). the trailers and previews made it seem as if jet li would die, but he leaves for some business.

  18. crazy i didnt know if they killed off van damme or left it open for another van damme roll. hope he died in a bad ass way tho

    • To quote Bruce Willis’ character, Van Damme’s death was “a little extreme”!

Unlike Arnie, JCVD will not be back.

      • Hey, it’s Hollywood. He could have a twin brother!

This movie was awesome. Not the greatest movie of all time, but it was a lot of fun to watch the greatest action movie heros doing what they do best on the big screen. Made me realize how much I miss a good Chuck Norris action film!

  19. How long was Arnold & Bruce’s screen times in the film?

    • Arnold has almost a cameo role in the first scene, then he disappears until the final battle.

Bruce Willis is being the man behind the company the whole movie, Stallone says he lets other people do the dirty work while he relaxes. So Bruce Willis stands up and fights in the final scene.

Chuck Norris has 2 action scenes, but he’s really only thrown in to be Chuck Norris. Its the final battle that everybody is in (except Li, his character goes on holiday after the opening and is not seen again)

The best image in that movie was Stallone, Arnold, and Willis standing side by side walking into the final battle, spraying the bad guys with bullets

      • I would have loved to have seen JCVD and Chuck Norris duking it out.

        • I thought I saw jet li show up in the final fight scene

  20. During the final fight between Sly and JCVD there’s a point when JCVD wraps a chain around Sly’s neck and pulls it like a noose … any idea what that was in reference to (if anything)???

  21. What was the plane at the end of the movie? It seems like it was another reference to another movie that i haven’t seen.

Anybody up for a Spin-off film set in china with Li’s character and other chinese/asian action stars.

China is the easiest to set but it wouldnt be too hard to to include an international cast. Expendables 2 had Austrian, Swede, and Australian, so this wouldnt be much of a stretch for a spin-off

  22. best part:

    no supercool teenager action
    no shake’y blurry camera movies
    no tights
not try to be superdark and supercool like last batman

    just fun and entertaining

  23. I loved this movie. It was predictable, yes, but it played out so well. Forced or not, Chuck Norris’ first scene was my favorite part. Overall, this is not the type of flick you go into expecting an amazing plot, screenplay, or any outstanding performances; just lots of explosions, lots of ass-kicking, lots of bad guys getting shot up (“one more!” *everyone unloads on the one remaining bad guy), and mindless fun.

It is the perfect kind of action film that satisfied me on every level that I was hoping for. Well, almost every level. The only thing I would have liked to be different was to extend the final fight between Stallone and JCVD. Van Damme’s death with the chain and knife just didn’t have enough of a “yeah revenge!” impact. He was already beaten up and broken for the moments before Stallone offed him, so it just wasn’t quite epic enough. That being said, it was still a great scene and great movie overall. For what it is, 9 out of 10.

  24. I want to thank stallone for giving Chuck and Van Damme a chance to be seen in the theaters again. So nice and kind of Stallone. I went to see the movie just because they were in it. They were my action stars growing up. Loved every character, yea but the fight scene at the end with Stallone and Van damme was sick. That kick would paralyze you in real life let alone kill you. Stallone saw what kind of character Van damme could be, a sick bad son of a you know what villian, what a character. Keep it up. Would go to see Chuck Norris and Van Damage again, hope to see more of them in future movies, thanks Stallone.

  25. I thought TE2 was pretty good! The references to other movies were great, the action was great, and the cast was great. It was good seeing Terry Crews back with his AA-12 and Jason Statham was badass as always. I wish Jet Li would’ve stayed in the whole movie, though; his single fighting scene was awesome.

  26. great movie! a really fun one… the one thing that made me laugh a lot of times was when Chuck Norris appears. The background song/sound changes. like an old western movie sound. i think they delivered their lines well and made the movie not heavy to watch (because of the action and the blood)… people will see a smile on your face when you leave the place.

  27. Awesome movie, can someone help me finding one song?
during the first escenes on the airplane, there was a background song that is not on the OS. its kinda a 60’s song. Thanks in advance!

  28. I really enjoyed this movie, much more than the first one. As much as Arnold sucked as a politician, it is still great to see the guy kicking ass and delivering groan-worthy puns on the big screen. Can’t wait to see The Last Stand (trailer before TE2 was awesome). This movie did everything it set out to do, and while it won’t win any awards it WILL end up on my shelf when it’s released to DVD.

The next one REALLY needs to have Carl Weathers added to the cast, how freaking awesome would THAT be!

  29. there was a scene when they go into a bar in russian village and theres a song playing right before they get into a fight, whats that song??? pplease i wanna know, thanks

    • Ustata-“Tochno Sega”

      • omg thank you soooooooooooooooo much! love it!

        • My pleasure! Enjoy it. If U have into the name of the others oldies song please send me the names. I have Ustata song, The Rascals: A Beautiful Morning (when they wake up in the old town), Little Richard: Rip It Up (the next scene when a shootout comes on), Frank Stallone: Don´t Want To Fight With Me (background song when Barney Ross talk with Billy “The Kid” outside the bar)and Los Challengers: I Just Want To Celebrate (end credits song)..jejeje.
