‘Expendables 2′ Set Photo: Stallone, Willis & Schwarzenegger

Shooting on The Expendables 2 is underway, and today we have an image from the set that might just be able to beat up any other set image ever taken. It’s that macho.

So, if the names Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, and Sylvester Stallone mean anything to you, you’ll want to scroll on down to the image below.

The Expendables 2 is the sequel to the 2010 action movie throwback, which boasted what is probably the most macho cast this side of the Fast and the Furious franchise, bringing together older action stars and tough guys like Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, and…Eric Roberts. The sequel has only gained more muscle (literally) by adding the likes of Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris and Scott Adkins, with more action stars like Donnie Yen and Christopher Lambert still rumored to be in contention. Of course, Expendables 2 is also getting some young blood, with Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) already confirmed, and Taylor Lautner’s name circling the rumor mill (Lautner IS a trained martial artist, fyi).

Now that you know the breakdown, check out the image that Schwarzenegger himself tweeted from the Expendables 2 set (he’s having fun, fyi):

Of course we’ve seen the three action icons before in their brief meeting scene in the first Expendables, but it’s been said that both Schwarzenegger and Willis could be given expanded roles in Expendables 2, so – in addition to the overwhelming badassedness of the cast – there’s that to look forward to. And with director Simon West’s track record for solid action flicks (Con Air, Tomb Raider, The Mechanic), film buffs can at least take solace in the fact that they won’t have to endure another round of Stallone’s…questionable directorial approach. That all said: there’s a good chance that this could be one of those rare sequels that’s better than the original.

The Expendables 2 will blast into theaters on August 17, 2012.

  1. This movie is my Avengers. I can’t wait for this.

  2. Also, Arnold’s only working for 4 days so I don’t see his part expanding all that much. Bull***t.

    • Kinda pissed about that too but you never know. I want to see him kill at least one guy.

  3. Awesome sauce

  4. Sweet this is gonna be better then the first expendables

  5. Is TAYLOR LAUTNER in the film or not? it would be great to see him in this kind of film :-)

    • No, no it would not be great.

      • Best. Reply. Ever.

        mac :]

      • Yah, I’ll have to second Alex’s reply… icaro must be female… lol

      • Oh come on guys! Maybe he gets killed in the first 5 minutes by Lungren…..PLEASE! :-P

    • @ icaro: are you Taylor Lautner’s agent or president of his fan club perhaps?

    • Seriously? He sounds like a 12 year old

  6. stallones getting an expanded role?

    • Yes, yes he is, as Bruce Willis.

  7. Arnold will poison and destroy the film, just like he did to the state of california and Batman and Robin on a lesser not.

    • Are you implying that batman and robin was arnolds fault?

    • @ dinkus

Isn’t California mostly runned & filled with liberal democrats?

And how can you justify Batman & Robin being Arnold’s fault? The film did make money, only thing about it was it was met with critic & fan negative reviews and for good reasons. But not once on here have seen anyone blame Warner Bros. since it was their idea in the first place to take the franchise into a more family-friendly direction. Joel Schumacher has his fair shar of blame as anyone, but i blame the studio more than him of what became of the franchise’s undoing.

  8. This is just icing on the cake! The finished product will be gold! Can’t wait for the expendables 2! It’s like what Alex said… the avengers version of action movies!!!!!!!!!

  9. “one of those rare sequels that’s better than the original”

    - Terminator 2
    - The Godfather II
    - The Dark Knight
    - The Empire Strikes Back
    - X2: X-Men United
    - Aliens
    - Superman II
    - The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

    • I have to disagree with a few of those… But anyway, if you can name all of the movies where that is the case, then yes, it is definitely a rare case… Do you know how many sequels there are? Now what percentage of that number would that list of yours be? Well, there you go…

    • I agree with everything except TDK; I thought BB was better.

      • @ John “Kahless”

        I agree aswell.

      • I agree too.

      • Yah, that was one that I wanted to disagree with him on, but figured it might start a flame war from all of the TDK fanboys out there…

  10. If there is ever, EVER, a time when spelling and grammar is important on the internet is when you’re talking crap about someone. Keep that in mind… :-)

  11. Dude, Arnold needs a haircut, pronto, lol.

    • And Sly needs some new facecuts for face lifting ;p

    • agreed! haha he looks as if he was electrified! maybe that’s his expanded role!

  12. Arnie is only working 4 days, but they are currently filming the big action finale in Bulgaria, so seems like he is involved in that. Also 4 days is a bit quick for a cameo role, so expect him to be involved in that finale.

  13. Where did you find out Arnold’s role is gonna be short again?

  14. Tom Arnold Schwarzenegger. Never thought that a play on their names would be humorous and then this picture existed.

  15. In other Expendables news an extended cut of the movie is being released Dec 13!

  16. I would love to see Arnold as the Bad guy as the boss and perhaps thats were this will end up going. I could be wrong but from the pics so far its clear that of the 3 Arnold is the one who appears to not be capable of doing an action role any more, not at least one with much action. Stalone is without saying still in shape and even Willis looks like he can handle himself but Arnold looks older then he is.

I hope I’m wrong but I believe the Govenator missed his chance to get back to something akin to his fomrer self and it happend whilke he was in politics. I know the who govenator line was popular but I wish he woudl have stayed out of politcis. Hollywood toooften gets involved in politics when it should not.

  17. Norris is the real tough guy here.. the lone wolf is back.
hope he kicks some serious a**.
should play ‘the eagle’ by waylon jennings when he is on screen.
    true blue.
