Simon West will begin shooting (appropriate verb) his sequel to Sylvester Stallone’s macho man brawl, The Expendables 2, sometime over the next couple of months – and Millennium Films has begun the lengthy process of confirming which rumored stars will actually be showing up in the action-packed blockbuster.

An official cast list for the Expendables followup has made its way online, revealing that Stallone’s mercenary crew from the first film (Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren) and Mickey Rourke are all set to reprise their respective roles in Part Deux.

Moviehole got ahold of said cast list and is reporting that familiar faces like Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back (sorry) in Expendables 2, while the often-rumored Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, and Scott Adkins are all now officially onboard for the film.

Van Damme will be playing a villain (as was previously rumored) in Expendables 2 alongside fellow muscular martial arts master/actor Adkins (Undisputed II, The Bourne Ultimatum). Willis’ Mr. Church made only a brief appearance in the first film, but he’s long been all but confirmed to become the main antagonist in the sequel.

There’s no word yet if Schwarzenegger’s role in the second Expendables movie will likewise be larger (or, rather, more than a three minute cameo), but the 71-year-old Norris is only expected to show up briefly in the film.

UPDATE: Deadline has learned that Willis and Schwarzenegger are signed on for “substantial” roles in Expendables 2, which is slated to begin production in October 2011.

Norris, Van Damme, and Adkins are in for 'The Expendables 2'

A rumored plot synopsis for Expendables 2 popped up online a few months ago, indicating the film would follow Stallone and Co. as they embark on a mission of personal revenge, after one of their own is slaughtered. That would have been a fitting homage to the iconic 1980s sequel format and its famous tagline (“And this time… it’s personal!”), but Stallone ended up refuting said plot description. Bear in mind, that does not guarantee the film won’t be heading in a similar direction.

One thing the new Expendables flick will definitely do is embrace the action movie franchise creed that became a tradition during the ’80s (i.e. make the sequel bigger). With stars like Norris and Adkins onboard (both of whom were offered, but turned down roles, in the first film), along with Van Damme and the big surviving players from the first movie, Expendables 2 is certain to become even more of a testosterone-fueled throwback to now classic action-fests of the past few decades. If other wanted stars like Christopher Lambert and Christian Slater sign on too, it will just be icing on the cake for fans.

Look for additional cast confirmations in the upcoming weeks as The Expendables 2 heads into production, so as to make its scheduled August 17th, 2012 theatrical release date.

  1. If Donnie Yen accepts, we should have an epic fight scene between him and Adkins. Take my money.

    • Christian Slater?? Icing on the cake?! seriously?

    • Donnie Yen vs Scott Adkins!!! That would seriously be awesome! Or even the Jet Li + Jason Statham combo from the first film (remember the superb basement scene) vs Donnie Yen + Adkins, since both of them are convincingly superior to Li + Statham!

  2. Yah, I think when they typed Christian Slater they meant to type Donnie Yen… Lol

    • We can only hope LOL.

  3. Good. No Twilight punk is cast.

  4. Sounds good so far

  5. Yeah I’ve got to say that Slater in this film seems a bit odd, maybe he’ll be in it for comedic relief? The pontential addition of Chuck Norris just blows my mind, I’d like to see him as a retired expendable who comes in unexpectedly to get them out of a jam. It’s well known that Norris is in incredible shape for a man who’s 71, so I’m excited to see him do what he does best. I’m one of the few who actually liked the first film flaws and all, I only hope that theyre fixed for the sequel cause this movie has the definite potential to be a massive blockbuster hit

    • 100% agree with you.
I’m also so thrilled that they signed Norris to TE2.

  6. I hope Scott Adkins doesnt spend most of the film as a background character like Gary Daniels was in the 1st,Massive fan of Scott Adkins and cant wait for The Expendables II either

    • Was Gary Daniels in the first movie? Man…he must have been waaaayyy out in the back, ’cause I didn’t even notice he was there! A fight scene between him and Jet Li would have been great! I think I should watch this again.

  7. What about Marko Zaror? He can put one hell of a martial arts show and appeal to the latin audience

  8. This movie could be Epic, the 1st was almost there. I feel the 1st film was a bit to short. I mean with all the stars, they should of had expanded fight scenes galore. I mean seriously thats all we want to see anyway, lol. Hell make it 3 hours long for all I care, just put in a decent plot and have serious throw downs between everyone. B A D A S S !! !!

  9. i ment a bigger rol

  10. Nice, Scott Adkins!! This is the news I wanted the first time around..

  11. CHUCK NORRIS = WIN

    • What he said!

      mac :]

  12. Peter Weller (Robocop) is rumored to be on there according to imdb.com. I think he’ll be in the cast even though he’s just rumored cause he has a character name (Deakin). The more I think about it the more I like this move. Maybe he’s apart of Arnold’s team along with (my wish list) Mr. T, Hulk Hogan, Vin Diesel, & I guess Dwayne Johnson. The bad guy additions I would like to c r Bolo Yeung (Bloodsport), Brian Thompson (Cobra, the guy with the jaw), & Danny Trejo. All would be some intimidating looking assassins.

  13. Chuck Norris, Van Damme = Opening night!

  14. Chuck Norris. This is all. Awesome!

  15. To make the sequel better than the original…add more Arnold and Bruce, period! Now, what is this about Christian Slater? Why on earth would he be a prospective actor in this film? Back in the 80′s, wasn’t he in high school, watching all of these real action hero’s on film, just like the rest of us?

    • No

    • Believe it or not, Slater has a solid fan base. He’s been an action star (not one of anywhere near Willis’ or Schwarzenegger’s stature, of course) since the early ’90s, so his possibly being in Expendables 2 makes sense enough.

      • Makes sense only to YOU Sandy. :)

        • Heh, well, that may be true.

  16. I am extremely suprised that Michael J White has not been cast yet, hes one of the best martial artists along with Scott Adkins that could be cast

    • I’d rather see MJW do a Black Dynamite 2 :)

      • He is.

        • yes Michael Jai White should be in the expendables 2

  17. CHUCK NORRIS!!!! Now I’m def. seeing this movie

  18. Great news that Van Damme, Chuck Norris and Scott Adkins are confirmed for The Expendables 2.

I think Van Damme would be as the main villain, it is rumoured that his character is completely covered in tattoos that would be badass and also he has a team of mercenaries of his own.

I hope these actors also join The Expendables 2:
    Dwayne Johnson
    Vin Diesel
    Michael Jai White
    Jackie Chan
    Mark Dasacasos
    Jean Reno
    Michael Biehn
    Tom Sizemore
    Tony Jaa
    Sigoury Weaver (Maybe Stallone’s wife)
Bolo Yeung (The second main villain and also Van Damme’s trusty friend)
    Termua Morrison
    Robert Patrick
    Andrei Arlovski
    Vinnie Jones
    Sasha Mitchell
    Danny Trejo
    Michael Clarke Duncan
    Donnie Yen
    and
    Cameos:
Steven Seagel (If he and producer Avi Lerner put their differences aside)
    Kurt Russell
Clint Eastwood (Stallone’s father in the film)

I hope the sequel will have more explosions, more gunfights, more fight scenes and more action hero legends in it and I also hope the sequel will better than the first one.

    • Now I am all for Kurt Russell, just watched Soldier last night and he has always been a bad ass, Snake Pliskin FTW.

      • I’d love to see a Tango and Cash Sequel

I loved Tango and Cash and if you don’t you are a Twilight loving femmy pusssssssssssy!!!

  19. All have bigger muscles than old aunty Arnold at this point

Hulk Hogan needs to be in this in his Thunderlips in his Thunerlips Tophat with a minigun

    Brother

  20. Did everybody forget about Christian Slater in Broken Arrow and True Romance? He was awesome!

    • Slater does not belong in this film. He was kissing his first girl back when the rest of these guys were action stars, and there have been plenty of other younger actors who have done more action movies than him. I can’t believe his name is even mentioned here.

  21. Hell yea!!! Chuck Norris!!

    • The first one was so bad, why would you want seconds??? Count me out bud!

  22. Someone suggested Clint Eastwood be in the film…great idea. The baddest and coolest of them all. Surprised his name has not been brought up sooner. He could have a little cameo as Stallone’s mentor.

    • Can’t say I agree.

Clint Eastwood was a cop. The meanest cop on the block, yeah. But I don’t see him as part of a band of mercenaries. He always stood for law and order.

      But maybe that’s just me.

      • Peter, even in his westerns?

  23. *sob* But what about the friendly neighbourhood cook? An action movie is not an action movie without Seagal breaking a few arms while whispering softly.

    • The “cook” has eaten too much and, if involved in the action, would likely slow it down. They could focus on head shots, like they did in his last few films, but there again, the action would go out the window.

      • Haha good one! I’d click the like button if there was one on screenrant!

  24. Which begs the question…
Who would win in a fight? Norris or VanDamme?

    • Neither. Clint would just pull out his 44 Magnum and blow them both away, even though he is close to 80 now.

      • Nope, Chucks beard would stop ANY projectile cold in its tracks sir, sorry.

  25. I think Clint Eastwood should a cameo as Stallone’s father or maybe as the former leader of the Expendables, that maybe work.

I am happy that Van Damme, Chuck Norris and Scott Adkins have join The Expendables 2.

  26. Hell Yeah! Adkins will give this movie the epic martial arts combat the first movie lacked. I mean, come on, Gary Daniels got owned. Just look the guy in this video. Does all his own fight scenes and does them WELL.

  27. why not steven seagal?

    • Seagal? The Clint Eastwood/Bruce Lee wannabe? He’s contractually obligated to be a contestant on the next season of The Biggest Loser. Seriously, though, he only had one reputable action movie, Under Siege, so he really does not compare to most of the others here. I think he actually has his own reality show now, as he is a sheriff deputy or police officer somewhere. That may have been cancelled, though, for all I know. Back to joking…I don’t know if, he would be hired for Expendables 2, he would agree to a wardrobe change.

      • Above the Law
        Out for Justice
        Hard to Kill

He has made more than 1 good action movie and you can take that to the bank, the blood bank.

  28. Hmmm…this will be a short movie. Chuck Norris will do his cameo then everyone dies, the end.

    • lol

  29. I loved the first one , it was really fun.
