Zoe Bell in Raze Zoe Bell Reveals Her ‘ExpendaBelles’ Dream Cast; Interested in Expendables Crossover

Considering The Expendables scored $274 million worldwide, the sequel snagged $305 million of its own and there’s a third film on the way, it makes sense Millennium Films would want to expand the franchise. However, now that they’ve got just about every big-name male hero in the mix, it’s time to tap into a new pool of potential elite mercenaries, the most badass female action stars in the business.

When news first broke that Millennium was putting together a female version of The Expendables called The ExpendaBelles, names like Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale, Milla Jovovich, Gina Carano, Uma Thurman, Sigourney Weaver, Geena Davis, Jennifer Garner, Michelle Yeho, Brigitte Nielsen and Pam Grier were all in the mix. However, when producer Adi Shankar revealed the ladies that were in talks to star as of late October, that list was whittled down to Meryl Streep, Cameron Diaz and Jovovich.

Clearly that’s a solid start, but for those of you who’ve seen Death Proof, Whip It or anything from her enormous stunt work resume, you know Zoe Bell is an absolute must and, sure enough, back in December, she revealed to Crave Online that she has met with the folks in charge for a role in the film. While talking to Bell about her upcoming release Raze, we got the chance to ask her about her involvement in ExpendaBelles ourselves and she confirmed that nothing’s been locked in yet – but she’s got some ideas of her own.

While the filmmakers behind ExpendaBelles continue to eye Bell for a role in the film, they should also consider the expert stunt star as a casting director too because if Bell had her choice of female action stars to fill the roster, ExpendaBelles would be one heck of a film.

When asked to divulge her dream team, Bell went with:

“Gina Carano, Ronda Rousey, Michelle Rodriguez just cause I think she’s like – she is one of those people that just is a bit of a shit-kicker. I feel like in real life she is kind of cool and tough and sexy all at once. I don’t feel like she’s being someone else when she’s doing it. And then I decided I’d bring back Linda Hamilton and Sigourney Weaver… and me!”

Now the question is, are the Expendables men allowed to come and play, too? Bell gave them the OK.

“Oh, I don’t know. Why not? They can have a little moment.”

But, when we suggested keeping things separate so eventually The Expendables and The ExpendaBelles could come together in an epic crossover movie, Bell was all for that option, too, but then admitted the idea made her think.

“I’m pondering now. I’m like, or, they do whatever they want and I’ll make my own one.”

No matter what writers Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith do with this narrative, Bell should be part of this movie. She’s proven time and time again that she’s one of the best stuntwomen in the business and the more she scores speaking roles, the more she’s proving that she’s got some serious acting chops – and loads of charisma, too.

Check out the clip of Bell discussing the possibilities for The ExpendaBelles below and keep an eye out for our full interview with the Raze star coming later this week.

What do you think? Would you want to see Bell and her dream team lead The ExpendaBelles?

  1. Hire those women, immediately!

Honestly, adding the five that she mentioned (other than herself) would be great.

  2. Dear Warner Bros.,

Please cast this young lady as Big Barda in a New Gods movie.

  3. Cool a action flim based In the kitchen great..

    • The 1950′s called, they want their jokes back.

    • a action??
      what’s a kitchen great?

      • That’s how they used to talk before women got the right to vote.

  4. Wow, in that top picture she looks like a man wearing a wig and fake boobs.

    • get your eyes checked s***stain and while you’re at it learn a thing or 2 about respect b/c it might get you laid one day ;)

      • I have no problem getting laid. ;)

        • I have to agree with Joe here, she looks like Martin Short in a wig…. :)

        • He means you’d get laid by females.

  5. Cynthia Rothrock or gtfo.

    • I agree, if Cynthia Rothrock isnt even brought up–then forgetaboutit!

      • If they bring her in, they better bring in the entire cast from “Undefeatable”

  6. Cynthia Rothrock
    Michelle Yeoh
and the panoply of Kung Fu stars from the 80′s and 90′s out of Hong Kong Cinema, since that’s the only place most true female action stars came out of. Almost everyone else used stuntmen, but HK action made the stars learn the moves and do them onscreen

    • Michelle Yeoh… no, I’m tired of her face.

  7. I’m with the idea. As long as they don’t go with that name.

  8. How many people actually want to see this movie? Just sounds like a cheap knock off

  9. I don’t think this’ll be great, I mean a story about a few woman kicking ass and not having some male actors doing it seems kindda odd

    • Which is why it’s a great idea. How many complaints have we heard about formulaic male action hero movies? We’ve seen women kicking ass in the movies for decades so why not go for something like this?

  10. If they use Expendables 1 as a template I’d top the cast like this:
Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton and Michelle Yeoh. They are the female equivalent to Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Willis. Anybody else they cast would be icing on the cake.

  11. No thanks. Leave Expendables alone.

  12. wtf is she ?

  13. My list for THE EXPENDABELLES:
    Michelle Yeoh
    Ziyi Zhang
    Zoe Saldana
    Carrie-Anne Moss
    Anna Torv
    Maggie Q
    Summer Glau
    Uma Thurman
    Rhona Mitra
    Rinko Kikuchi
    Michelle Rodriguez
    Rosamund Pike
    Ellen Hollman
    Paula Patton
    Lucy Lawless
    Moon Bloodgood
    Olga Kurylenko
    Kristin Kreuk
    Sigourney Weaver
    Jennifer Garner
    Xun Zhou
    Zoe Saldana
Actresses that’s not just a name but looks the part & would fit the role.

    • It’s funny you mentioned Uma Thurman in your list. Zoe Bell was her stunt double in Kill Bill. She’d have to pull double duty if they were ever in the same action movie together.

    • Michelle Rodriguez… without a doubt! she always plays the tough girl, but somehow ends up dying

  14. she is sooo Valkrie!!!(spelling?) fighting along side thor!

  15. Jija Yanin needs to be added to this list.

  16. This could be great if it has the stunt work and scale of the previous The Expendables movies and especially if Zoe Bell can get Kate Beckinsale and Linda Hamilton and Sigourney Weaver involved.

  17. Has anyone considered Chloe Grace Moretz (hit girl from kickass)

  18. I just finished watching The Expendables movie and I was totally impressed with Zoe Bell, so much so that I immediately got on-line to see if there would be a second Mercenaries movie. Imagine my joy when I found out there would be a female version of The Expendables (Expendabelles). Zoe kicks buttocks!!! Love her style!!!

  19. Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale, Milla Jovovich, Gina Carano, Uma Thurman, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Yeoh, Linda Hamilton, Michelle Rodriguez, the Bella Twins (WWE). A mix of young and Mmm not young cast as well as adding a bit of popular (sports entertainment) culture. This movie is an attraction and has a chance to earn more than the original Expendables. I think some of the men could do some cameos but not a big piece of the screen pie. It only makes sense to cameo them in the movie debut and then maybe in the 2nd or 3rd sequel the boys and girls can all play in the field to conquer a major storyline such as preventing a global nuclear warfare. Now that sounds like you could do a spin off into the world of Ethan Hunt.

  20. I would think Ronda Rousey who played Luna in expendables 3 would bring her established charature over to the expendabelles spinoff.
