There are less than four months left until the premiere of Paramount’s Iron Man movie but in the meantime you can feast your eyes on this fan film created by David Guivant. It’s not so much a movie as it is the opening title sequence for an Iron Man TV series, made in the spirit of Sandy Collora’s Batman Dead End and World’s Finest.
David created this on a shoestring budget over a period of a couple of years and it features Tony Stark as Iron Man, plus it includes Pepper Potts, Happy Hogan, The Black Widow, Ms. Marvel, Nick Fury AND The Mandarin. Not only that, but it’s chock full of special effects, which believe it or not are all 2D and not 3D.
It’s been a labor of love for him and I encourage you to check it out below!
Here is some background on the film, followed by the production credits after the movie:

Nicely done, im very impressed.
Great job! Impressed as well.
Cool fan flick a long time in the making! It’s great to see the finished homage to Iron Man!
Very nice!! Where in the hell did he get the special FX for that thing?
I’ve heard that music EVERYWHERE! LOL!
So there will be more of these in October?
Kel, no – he intended to release it prior to last October but it took longer and more work than he anticipated.
Vic
What’s the music called?
Absolutely brilliant!
I can’t believe the effects are only 2D… holy crap, how did he chroma-key all those scenes in?
The music sounds like something from the French musical group Era.. This Guivant guy is French, right?
Thanx,Vic.
The music,is what I call “canned music”. It can be heard in a LOT of trailers, both “official” and fan made, you’d be surprised. I have no idea where it came from originally, but I know it’s been used a lot.
The music’s “Lacrimosa” by Immediate Music.
Ahh!!! The song from the Spidey trailer!!
You’re right Kel.. no wonder you heard it everywhere.. I guess people started using it after they heard it on the Spidey trailer.
Thanks for the great feedback everyone, it’s all done frame by frame in photoshop and all rendered in Sony Vegas. The track is called Lacrimosa from Immediate Music.
EASTER EGG: Take a closer look at the Retina scan sequence, while scanning the AVENGERS DATABASE, a famous character in the Marvel Universe by the name of Excelsior makes a cameo appearance.
Yeah,I noticed Stan the man!
* Kel, “EVERYWHERE” ha ha, me too. This music seems more common with middle ages/fantasy/army type stuff. Did you frame-by-frame BEFORE David mentioned the Easter Egg? Yeesh.
* This fan move is much better and more faithful than the animated Iron Man DVD I rented last week. (What a crappy interpretation of Mandarin–including only half the rings.)
* David, GREAT work, and GREAT actors for all the roles. I hope the disclaimers satisfy the bigwigs at Paramount and Marvel. I’ve heard Paramount will jump on anyone who uses a Star Trek logo or pic without permission.
* I like the Avengers tie-in.
* I recognize Black Widow, but who is the lady in the shiny black face mask?
Yeah, that Iron Man animated film REALLY sucked,IMO.
No,I didn’t,Jim,but I noticed Stan in there immediately,LOL!
Someone will have to make a list of film trailers that has that music to it someone.
pretty freaking cool, great job for a fan film.
Vic, this is great !! David, what a fantastic job you did!! Love the music … but I still missed Stan after watching a few times. Will keep watching till I find him!!
Thanks for this great treat!
Joyce
Joyce, there’s a little box that flashes faces of Marvel characters…if you do the pause-and-play right during Tony’s eye scan, you’ll see Stan come up among the other characters.
Ahhhh, thanks Jim … will try that. I am not very wise about this computer stuff! I’m not even sure I’m getting it all …. it is just a trailer …. right??
Yessss… I finally caught Stan. The scans go so fast it’s hard to catch the individuals but I did. Thanks for your help!
Thank you VIC and thanks everyone for the great feedback.
Yes there are plenty of easter eggs to come by:
If you slow down the images you will see some of the individual members of the EARTH MIGHTIEST HEROES, including a Sentinel of Liberty, a former model turned insect, a Wakandan Ambassador, a Giant Man, a catwoman, a movie star turned Avengers, a Synthoid married to a Scarlett Witch and Superhero Genius: Excelsior
Here’s another one: Did you get to see what type of car Harold Hogan was driving? Is there a character missing? A former bodyguard in a Black and White IRON MAN armor? Look carefully at Virginia Pott’s screen, an Icon of the War Machine appears on the monitor, unfortunately the following scene with a pan on War Machine was cut off in the final editing.
Apparently the War Machine Icon was too small to see even when slowed down and looked like a black and white skull so at the test screening some fans though that Tony Stark was tracking down the Punisher during the CIVIL WAR.
David, is this Pay-Per-View? You’re gonna have some of us looping this thing all night.
ha ha! hope not! I am bouncing between this and an Air Force test that is driving me nuts.
Keep the red box from hitting the black sides or being hit by the blue boxes. Entertaining evening ….
David, thanks for your tips…..
No worries mate, The Woman in the mask is Carol Susan Jane Danvers, a fictional character, a comic book superheroine from the Marvel Comics universe, created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gene Colan.
Danvers is a retired U.S. Air Force Intelligence agent turned NASA Security Chief, and a romantic interest to the extraterrestrial hero Captain Marvel.
After exposure to technology from Marvel’s Kree home world, Danvers gains superhuman strength and the ability to fly, among other abilities, and becomes Ms. Marvel.
Throughout the years, she also uses the code names Binary and Warbird.
Quite impressive, very nice FX.
meh.
Wow, David Guivant himself is here!!
Hats off to you, sir! This piece of work looks really, really great!!
What are the enemies that they’re up against? They looks like something from out of Babylon 5!! It can’t be the Chitauri (Skrulls), can it?
Marvel Girl and Iron Man engaging those seemingly-alien spaceships in dogfights.. that looks cool! And I see a scene of what looks like Iron Man flying right through an enemy ship, blowing it up in the process. The scene where he fires some weapon from his fist.. doesn’t look like repulsors.. was that a pulse bolt?
