Well I’m not sure how this happened exactly, but TotalFilm.com has nominated Screen Rant as one of what they consider to be the five most influential movie blogs.
I’ll tell you right now that I know we don’t have a chance in hell of beating out the other four (most of whom are friends of mine), but it’s an honor (and a surprise!) to even have been nominated.

Also nominated were /Film.com, TheMovieBlog.com, FirstShowing.net and TwitchFilm.com, all sites I read regularly.
We’re not really a movie news site – we provide editorials and analysis on what’s going on in the movie and TV world. We’ve been accused in the past of not being “objective,” to which my reply is: Duh. That’s not the point of Screen Rant at all.
So if you appreciate the fine staff of writers that we’ve put together and the fact that you can have civilized, intelligent discussion here with no fear of trolls, general idiocy or personal attacks, please head over to TotalFilm and vote for us!

What I love about this site is that it’s small enough you’re not just a message but a person. It’s been a great ride with you and I chose you first over any other — besides I know you work your tail off to make this work.

Slashfilm is run by a good friend of mine and it gets a TON more visitors than we do. It’s more of a news site and less of an editorial one, although they do comment on news items.
Come on guys, get the word out – we’re looking sad in the votes!

You’ve got my vote, Vic. I love this site. Like you said, civil discussion and banter while getting the news on the movies that I am interested in. I just hope this newfound publicity doesn’t draw the trolls here in force.

That’s awesome, Vic. Congrats.
What I love about the site, both to read and to write for, is the fact that it’s very “by the water cooler” in style i.e. it feels like you’re just talking with you freinds about a movie or TV show you’ve seen or are looking forward to as opposed to it feeling like a structured, high-brow discussion.
Also I love that my fellow writers all have their own style etc, which makes it feel like a real community of contributors you can relax, read and discuss with.
Anyway, obviously, the site has my vote. C’Mon let’s try and get it up the list a bit!^_^

Although I did vote for Slashfilm because of their highly enjoyable /filmcast. I do truly love this site. And because of Peter, Alex, Todd and you (Vic) I have something to do that I love everyday… which is to read anything and everything that has to do with film.

…It’s like an awards show. Just because you don’t win doesn’t mean you’re not the best. Opinions are like belly-buttons… This site has my vote. I have been to the rest, and this site has a wonderful way of addressing the movie genre is a most personal way. To me, there is not better way to discuss movies. Kudos to ALL who invest their time to making this site all it IS.

Congrats on getting on there at all. There are plenty of movie sites out there that didn’t get on that list at all. But I agree with their selection.

Obviously there is a conspiracy to keep those numbers from showing Screen Rant’s true following and the scope of its influence on the entire film industry!!
What the heck? I just went to the other sites nominated there, and they are not as good as sreenrant. These people voting don’t know what they are missing. I know I said that the first time, but seriously, they don’t…

Yah, I voted like 3 times with the different IP’s that I have at my disposal… I can probably use it to annoy the heck out of 790 at MG that is still all butt hurt about his insult to me backfiring on him, but I think I’ll be kind and leave him alone, lol. His attempt to insult me was pretty pathetic anyhow, so I’d feel bad to pick on him. Call it my one charitable gesture.
Screenrant is not too far behind Twitch. less than 60 votes is not too terrible, Screenrant is getting there!!
