A couple of months ago Empire Magazine ran a photo spread for their 20th Anniversary issue featuring Hollywood legends recreating some of their most iconic cinematic moments. Though only stipulation was that the stars dress classy while paying homage to some of their most memorable moments on celluloid and IMO, the spread turned of awesome.

Well now Empire is sharing its gallery online and people are clicking on and taking notice. Nothing revolutionary but we thought you’d enjoy them too, so we grabbed a few of the best pics and lined them up for you.

As you go through the pic, see if you can still name the star, what movie it is they’re recreating and what age you were when said movie came out. The results may frighten you.

Without further ado here are the photos:

You can catch the rest of Empire‘s gallery by going HERE. It’s pretty awesome.

So, how did looking over those photos make you feel? Nostalgic? Old? Young and confused?

  1. Hmm, I feel quite young looking at these; I still remember seeing Jurassic Park at the drive thru. I think I was about 5 or 6 then.

  2. Thanks Kofi

Some truly striking pictures from some of my favorite movies.

Honestly, I miss Mel Gibson. Aside from his despicable dialogue on the PCH, the guy is just talented and has one of the best on screen presences. Here’s to hoping he either gets the Mad Max role or has a big part in the movie.

  3. Cool stuff. I’m digging the Silence of the Lambs one. (Probably not surprising from my icon!)

  4. you really hate on the young movie watchers don’t you? i personally loved the whole collection, definitely made me think back to a few of those roles. great work. thanks for posting this.

  5. Cool collection of pics. Love ‘em all.
    Thanks, Kofi.

  6. @Taylor

Are you kidding? Can I get you a tissue? “Hate on young viewers” by saying “Young and confused”?

    I point you here, sir:

  7. The Jurassic Park pic is my favorite.

Wouldn’t it have been better for Cruise to do a Mission Impossible-related pic?

  8. im dig’in the Larry Fishburn Pic.

  9. I was thinking it would have been better if Cruise did either Risky Business or Top Gun.

  10. School photo day in La La land,,,

    Get over your worship,,, ghessh!

  11. Those are very cool, Sam Neill is the coolest guy that ever lived!

  12. Tom Cruise in Minority is iconic?
Are you kidding me? I mean i like the movie as a solid sci-fi thriller, but IMHO iconic is the last word i would describe it with.

  13. There are very few women in these….odd. And they could have done so many more of these! Pacino, DeNiro, Crowe, DiCaprio, Day-Lewis, Hackman, Hanks, W. Smith, & D. Washington for the men and J Roberts, Beckinsale, Bullock, McAdams, M Ryan, Berry, Witherspoon for the women! (Just a few suggestions).

  14. I like the one of Sean and Viggo.

But man, our heroes are really starting to show their age. Making me feel old.

  15. This is very cool, thanks for sharing! Sam Neill and the T-Rex really made me smile.

  16. this is a nice photoshoot although some are hits and some are real misses.
What would have been really great seeing is if they got Mel and Danny Glover back and did the cover of Lethal Weapon 1.
Or, even a full body shot of Mel with a black dog and holding a double barrell similar to the cover of The Road Warrior but still in a stylish suit.

Gerrard Butler? No, not really that iconic to me. 300 to me, personally, is one of those movies that will fade.
What they should have done is get Harrison Ford and put him in his Dekker trenchcoat.

  17. I think Harrison Ford with the fedora would have been iconic. I liked the Kevin Spacey pic with the box. I remember seeing that scene in Se7en and going WOW!

I think they could have had more women. Whoopie Goldberg holding a shaving razor, Demi Moore showing a penny to the camera, Meryl Streep in red brada high heels, etc…

  18. Those are great! I would love to see them doing more. I think the Silence of the lambs one is my favorite. The one with Arnold is pretty funny, him in that purple tie is such a contrast to the one of him driving that bike doing his one-handed shotgun reloads in T2.

  19. @ Huntthejest

Well I agree that Risky Business or Top Gun would have been better than Minority Report, they were doing movies that came out since 1989 and both of those came out before that unless I’m mistaken. If you were to do one Tom Cruise movie from the last 20 years it should be Jerry McGuire IMO. Also I’m surprised they didn’t have Tom Hanks for one of his two Oscar winning performances(Philadelphia, Forest Gump), or actually having him for Saving Private Ryan would have been better. Other than Cruise I’d say that the movies they picked were pretty good and the pictures they had representing them were great for the most part. The Jurassic Park one is my favorite, I saw that when I was little, I was born in 1991 so it was at home on VHS, but even then it really wow’d me and still does today, It’s one of the few movies I’ll watch most if not everytime I see it’s on TV.

  20. Born in 1991?! Man, you all are making me feel older and older each time I come here! :-D

  21. Liking the Simon Pegg/Nick Frost and Clint Eastwood/Morgan Freeman ones.

  22. These are awesome! I love the ones for Jurassic Park, Unforgiven, Silence of the Lambs (!!!), Terminator, and The Matrix.

I think Matt Damon looks like a complete **** though, sitting there in a t-shirt with a passport. Super, super lame.

  23. @ Vic
Lol that old article is sweeet. Clint is the man.

  24. Ben Stiller? Keira Knightly @ James McAvoy?
    ICONIC? SERIOUSLY?
Where is Harrison Ford (Indiana/Hans Solo)?
    Where is Sigourney Weaver (Ripley/Alien0?

and Gerard Butler – iconic? Pleeease!
    LOL!

  25. Also Robert de Niro (Taxidriver) should be there too!
Tom Hanks, Glen Close(Fatal attraction), Meryl….
I guess they could not get some people for the shoot, so that’s why it is what it is – lousy!

  26. Cool photos. I especially liked the Terminator, Silence of the Lambs, and Jurassic Park ones.

I also wished they could have gotten Harrison Ford to put on the fedora and holding a whip or something, or holding his blaster from Star Wars. Or Sigourney Weaver with a flame thrower or one of those rifles the space Marines used in Aliens, that would have been awesome. Or even Michael Beihn holding a shotgun with the stock sawed off wearing a trenchcoat. Dennis Quaid wearing an astronaut helmet or fire fighter’s suit. Man, so many possibilities, but obviously they can’t get everyone to show up. Cool enough that they got a lot of those…

  27. Just wanted to say I’m 15 years old and I recognized all of these except the last picture. I wasn’t sure what movie that was, but I knew all of the others, and no I didn’t take offense to Vic saying “young and confused”. I’m just gonna assume that anyone as young as me or younger on here would know enough about movies to recognize Braveheart, Mission Impossible, Jurrassic Park, Terminator, and Silence of the Lambs if they’re this interested in a site like this. Most people my age don’t care about what’s coming up or about classic films like these, but like I was saying… Any kid that would come here probably knows what these movies are. I would sure hope so. ANyway these pictures are great! Thanks for sharing Vic

  28. Who let Ben Stiller in? And what’s Knightely famous for?
