2013 Emmy Nomination List: ‘House of Cards’, ‘Game of Thrones’ & More

emmy 2013 2013 Emmy Nomination List: House of Cards, Game of Thrones & More

This morning, Neil Patrick Harris joined Aaron Paul to announce the 65th Primetime Emmy Award nominations. On top of both Harris and Paul obtaining nominations themselves, Netflix’s House of Cards, which received 9 nods, set a precedence by becoming the first nominated show to never air on television.

Still, it was FX’s American Horror Story: Asylum and HBO’s Game of Thrones which led the pack with 17 and 16 nominations, respectively. The highly-controversial yet still beloved Arrested Development season 4 received 3 nominations, including one for Jason Bateman and one for editing, which might surprise some who took issue with the formatting of the new season. NBC’s 30 Rock also nabbed 15 nominations for its final season.

The most interesting category, however, is Miniseries or Movie, which – thanks to Luther and Sherlock not airing any new episodes – allowed American Horror Story and Showtime’s The Big C: Hereafter to step in and take quite a few nominations. But even though FX and Showtime might have taken this category by storm, they’re still going to have to best HBO’s stable of strong TV movies in order to bring home the award.

  1. No Hannibal? …ok maybe because it’s still a new show but no love for Justified or Shameless?

  2. I only watch walking dead and boardwalk empire, since luther is on hiatus. I also just started SOA and find charlie hunnam to be fantastic. Would have liked to see boardwalk empire get some credit and SOA. But whatever

  3. And where is Person Of Interest?
The show itself plus Jim Caviezel.
Best show on a broadcast network.

  4. The 65 Primetime Emmys, Wards, nominates, are finally here. I’m disappoint that they didn’t include Tatiana Maslany, for best actress in a drama, for BBC America Orphan Black. The show has her playing 6 different female characters, clones, Sarah is the main character.. Tatiana was just awarded 2013s Critics Chiice award, for Best Actress in Drama. Which should have had her nominate for Emmy, well they overlooked a true star in a drama!!
