Guy Ritchie hasn’t exactly had the best batting average as of late - Revolver and Swept Away, anyone? But maybe things will soon turn around for Mr. Madonna.
Ritchie has been tapped to direct Sherlock Holmes for Warner Brothers. Apparently, it’s based on a forthcoming comic-book that’s “more adventuresome and takes advantage of his skills as a boxer and swordsman.”
Okay. Just as long as Ritchie & Co. don’t attempt to “sexy up” the character. You know, suddenly Watson starts spatting out bad one-liners and what not.
But I can assume we won’t be seeing Holmes battling any cocaine addictions this time out.
Warner Brothers is aiming for a 2010 release.

that kinda sucks since his addiction made him the character he is (like Dr. House from the show…house who’s based on holmes)
And he’s also not smoking a pipe this time because tobacco’s bad, mkay!
ZAR.
So he can punch people in the face and stab them with a sword, but smoking and minor drug use are right out? Typical.
Would love to see a really good Holmes movie, but remakes/reimaginings often worry me.

The horror. The horror.
Guy Ritchie? Seriously? Warner Brothers gets Sherlock Holmes and they give it to Guy Ritchie?
I think I’ll be giving this one a pass.
