Check out the brand new trailer for Eagle Eye, starring current hot-ticket Shia Lebeouf and Michelle Monaghan.

Here’s the official description:

“Two strangers become the pawns of a mysterious woman they have never met, but who seems to know their every move. Realizing they are being used to further her diabolical plot, they must work together to outwit the woman before she has them killed.”

Based on this trailer, it looks pretty good…

I realize it’s not related, but fully the first third of the movie gave me a Matrix vibe, but without the Matrix – if that makes any sense. Someone calling on the phone, telling our hero what is about to happen seconds from now, with very explicit instructions. Of course this is a very different concept but it borrows more than a wee bit from that film IMHO.

Still, it looks like a pretty compelling (if hard to believe) concept – and Shia seems to be a decent actor so who knows? This might turn out to be as decent as the trailer makes it look.

Eagle Eye opens on September 26th, 2008

  1. Yeah that weird Matrix-vibe caught me too, at least in the beginning. The phone, the amount of guns/items in the room, the police room. But than it turned a bit more to The Game for me, with the “missions” they had to do. And to end it was sort of a Die Hard: With a Vengeance with the whole “it’s a decoy”-thing going on.

I will see this one I guess, but not as first pick.

  2. This looks rather interesting. The lady sounds like GLaDoS from portal =P.

  3. cool, looks pretty fun. I’ll probably see it.

  4. Funny how you say it reminded you of the Matrix. Not only does it have thematic elements, it has nearly identical shot composition in a few, not to mention it looks to have been color corrected to look like the Matrix. Of course now I want to see it… I hope DJ Caruso’s directing is more like Salton Sea and less like disturbia.

  5. Am I mistaken or was it not you Vic that coined the phrase “Tarzan Lebeouf” in your Indy review? Cuz I told people I knew about it and its become very popular amongst my friends and I.
