Timothée Chalamet celebrates Dune: Part Two wrapping filming with a new behind-the-scenes photo from production. The critical and financial success of Denis Villeneuve's Dune in 2021 meant that the director got the opportunity from Warner Bros. Discovery to make a sequel. Villeneuve split Frank Herbert's novel into two parts for the movie adaptation, meaning Dune 2 will once again follow Timothée Chalament as Paul Atreides and continue his journey after meeting up with the Fremen in the deserts of Arrakis.

It has now been confirmed that production on Dune 2 has officially wrapped. Chalamet shared a very happy selfie of himself and his real-life father from the desert set of Dune 2 to celebrate the end of filming. Chalamet is not pictured in costume as Paul Atreides, but the desert filming location for the sequel is teased in the background. Dune 2's filming moved to Abu Dhabi in November, but it is unclear if this is where Chalamet's photo is from.

What To Expect From Dune: Part Two

Dune Box Office Chalamet

The conclusion of filming on Dune 2 comes roughly five months after the cast and crew re-assembled to make the sequel. Denis Villeneuve once again oversaw the sci-fi movie production based on a screenplay he developed with Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth. Timothée Chalamet unsurprisingly returns to star as Paul Atreides, as Dune's ending directly set up the continuation of his story. This means that the sequel brings back some key characters and cast members from the first film, including Zendaya as Chani, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, and Javier Bardem as Stilgar.

Dune 2's expansive story also calls for Baron Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgård), Gurney (Josh Brolin), Thufir Hawat (Stephen McKinley Henderson), Glossu Raban (Dave Bautista), and Reverend Mother (Charlotte Rampling) to return. The sequel also has several exciting new additions to the cast list, including Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan and Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha. Dune 2's new cast members also include Lea Seydoux as Lady Margot and Christopher Walken as Shaddam IV. Many of these characters will play central roles in Paul's life as he grapples with the political state of Arrakis and House Atreides.

The collection of talent involved in Dune 2 makes the sequel one of the most anticipated movies of 2023, as another epic story is coming to theaters. Paul's time with the Fremen and becoming known as "Muad'Dib" will be explored as he attempts to defeat the Harkonnens, but a potential romance with Irulan and rivalry with Feyd-Rautha connect to his responsibilities in the grand scheme. Since Villeneuve has already promised that Dune: Part Two will have even more action than the first, it should be quite an exciting experience for audiences.
