The box office may have been a little dumber this weekend, but it also made a ton of money.

In at number 1 is Dumb and Dumber To (read our review) with $38 million. That's more than double what the first Dumb and Dumber earned at the box office back in 1994, and is the highest debut for a Farrelly Brothers picture.

Although some thought that the huge gap between releases and the dwindling fanbase might do the film in, Dumb and Dumber To performed more than admirably. Let the talk of a third film begin.

Big Hero 6 is the number 2 film with $36 million. Disney Animation's latest held really well from last weekend and is now up to $111 million. That being said, most animated films tend to holdover well, so don't expect Big Hero 6 to become the next Frozen.

Coming in at number 3 is Interstellar with $29.1 million. The Christopher Nolan-directed blockbuster also held serve very well, and is up to $97 million. That's obviously well under most of Nolan's prior hits, but is still an excellent two-week run all things considered.

The number 4 film is Beyond the Lights with $6.5 million. Even though Beyond the Lights opened well below the top 3 it did just fine with limited marketing and a targeted approach.

Rounding out the top 5 is Gone Girl with $4.6 million. This weekend's big winner at the Hollywood Film Awards is now up to $152 million total. Is more hardware in its future?

Not far behind is St. Vincent, which grossed $4 million in its sixth weekend of release. An indie comedy featuring Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy is not the easiest sell, but St. Vincent has performed admirably with $33 million earned so far.

In at number 7 is Fury with $3.8 million. Brad Pitt's WW2 drama is up to $75 million after five weeks.

Coming in at number 8 is Nightcrawler with $3 million. The Jake Gyllenhaal-led drama has made a cool $25 million after three weeks and tripled its $8M production budget.

Ouija is the number 9 film with $3 million. The horror flick has now grossed $48 million after four weeks.

Rounding out the top 10 is Birdman with $2.4 million. Birdman upped its theater count over the weekend and saw a slight increase in grosses as a result. So far the film has grossed $11 million.

Outside the top 10: Jon Stewart's directorial debut Rosewater (read our review) opened to $1.2M and the critically acclaimed drama Foxcatcher (read our review) pulled in $288,000 on only six screens.
