Disney XD has unveiled the opening titles for its DuckTales TV show reboot, confirming the series' official premiere date(s) in the process. Based in part on the Uncle Scrooge comic books created by Carl Barks (with issues dating back all the way to 1952), the original Disney animated TV series for children saw fit to expand upon the characters of the Donald Duck universe to wide spread acclaim, back in the early 1990s.

In a series of 100 individual episodes across four seasons that aired between 1987 and 1990, DuckTales became an integral facet of the popular culture with kids of the late 1980s and 1990s, who took to Scrooge McDuck and his three grandnephews Huey, Duey, and Louie, with an effusive personal attachment. Now with an official reboot forthcoming starring Doctor Who star David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck, things are getting interesting over at Disney XD. The latest bit of footage comes in the form of the reboot's opening titles, backed by the iconic series theme song.

In the footage featured above, potential viewers can get their first look at the updated opening titles sequence soon to be featured in the DuckTales reboot on Disney XD. Replete with the original theme song composed by Mark Mueller and a cinematic sequence immediately reminiscent of the program's history, viewers can expect to tune into the all-new animated series on Disney XD - beginning with a one-hour DuckTales movie special on August 12, before the regular series run begins on Saturday, September 23.

For many fans who fondly remember the original opening titles sequence, the DuckTales reboot series is sure to pull on the heartstrings of nostalgia with its very own updated homage to the aforementioned bit of historical animated footage. In due time, viewers can decided for themselves whether or not the new show lives up to its animated predecessor, but based on the opening titles alone things are off to a great start already.

DuckTales will air for the first time this August by way of a one-hour TV movie, but fans will then have to wait a full month before the program gets into the full swing of things in the fall. Considering the show's longstanding pop cultural legacy and continued relevance with viewers who grew up watching the show in the late 1980s and 1990s, the Disney original series may be in for a whole new boost from a new generation of eager fans - when parents who remember the old show begin sharing the new series with their children.
