Hollywood’s finest will be donning elegant gowns and spiffy tuxedos to attend the 2011 Oscars ceremony on Feburary 27th. So why shouldn’t everyone else celebrate the event that weekend by instead checking out the latest R-Rated, Nicolas-Cage-is-a-madman thrill ride, Drive Angry 3D?
The previously-released international trailer and TV spots did a commendable job of offering a G-Rated glimpse at Cage’s new B-movie – and now there’s a red band television preview that includes some very NSFW footage from the exploitive action pic.
Here’s an official description of the setup for Drive Angry 3D:
“Drive Angry” stars Cage as Milton, a hardened felon who has broken out [from Hell] for one last chance at redemption. Hell bent on stopping a vicious cult of fanatics who murdered his daughter, he has three days to stop them before they sacrifice his infant granddaughter beneath a full moon. Milton must use his anger to go beyond all human limits in order to save his last connection with humanity.
Joining Cage for the ride is Amber Heard as Piper, an attractive waitress who enjoys strutting around in Daisy Dukes and kicking a** (does she word it like that on her CV?); William Fichtner (The Dark Knight) as “The Accountant,” the Devil’s right-hand man; and Billy Burke as Jonah King, the charming leader of the bloodthirsty cult that’s prepping to murder Milton’s granddaughter.
Those of you who watched the adults-only clip released from Drive Angry 3D a few weeks ago probably suspected that was just the tip of the iceberg – in terms of what the movie has to offer. Going off the new red band TV spot alone… you were correct.

Most of the action in Drive Angry 3D will truly come alive when seen in the third dimension on the big screen. The film looks to throw axes, bullets, guns, exploding vehicles, gore, blood, shattered glass, truck tankers, and whatever else director Patrick Lussier decided was worth lugging out at the camera. But isn’t that exactly what everyone who goes to see the movie expeects (and more importantly wants) anyway?
Drive Angry 3D arrives in theaters later this month on February 25th.
