  1. I apologize in advance for the breathing sounds on my mic. This is the 5th one I’ve tried – still trying to troubleshoot which headset works best.

    • I’m considering it a bonus feature. Readers can re-edit the cast with only your breathing and cut it all together for a behind the scenes look at what it’s like to share a room with you at Comic-Con! Epic breathing!

    • its soothing… like ocean sounds.

  2. Yep. Another good SR podcast.

Pacific Rim now in 3D? Seems like Guillermo del Toro has WB’s cash grabbing hand up his backside now. Makes me sad……. the del Toro puppet will fail.

And Kofi, you’re right about Ben Kingsley. I don’t like his acting. I think he’s a ham. I didn’t like Hugo either. Between Asa Butterfield’s nostril flexing and Ben Kingsley’s ham acting, that movie was ruined for me. Chloë Grace Moretz was good. The visuals were good…. outside of the Asa kid’s overactive nose.

Funny review of Transmorphers….. I almost want to see it now…….. err… probably not.

I also agree about John Goodman. He’s great. How about him as the Kingpin? As long as he’ll agree to shave his head. Marvel is apparently getting back the Daredevil rights. Marvel should do the Frank Miller Daredevil. And my vote for Matt Murdock/Daredevil?
    Ryan Gosling.

    • As long as he makes hellboy 3 before Ron Pearlman dies.

    • Gosling was already in a Daredevil movie, right?

      Matt Murdock = Ryan Gosling
      Kingpin = Albert Brooks
Franklin P. “Foggy” Nelson = Bryan Cranston
      Bullseye = Ron Perlman
Elektra = Carey Mulligan (Just wait for the sai-throwing in Drive 2)

      • You’re close Ben …… in Drive Gosling was mostly mute.

        In Daredevil, he’d be blind.

Also Drive takes place in L.A.

        Daredevil is in New York.

        Otherwise ……. yep. Same movie.

      • Mind=blown.

      • Hahahah that was hilarious! Lol

        Box office battle
        1. Looper
        2. End of watch
        3. Hotel Transylvania
        4. House at te end of street
        5. Trouble with the curve
        10. The possession.

      • lmao still the most random YouTube video remembered at the most random time ever.

  3. Given the review of Transmorphers 2, someone should check out Asylum’s Sherlock Holmes for box office battle. It’s pretty hilariously bad, but does it features dinosaurs and robots (not sure if that is considered a pro or a con though)

    • Yep. Adding this one to the list. I’ll watch anything with dinosaurs.

  4. Hi there, just wanted to say cheers for several hours of entertainment over the past couple of weeks. I discovered your podcasts a little while ago and have had great fun and a few laughs listening in to the back-catalogue. It’s refreshing to listen to a group of guys sitting around discussing movies from several points of view. It’s even more refreshing to hear your team call it like they see it, and doing so in language and tone that engages and ‘involves’ a wide demographic. It’s a plus that you obviously know what you are talking about but never let your ‘expertise’ get in the way of making an entertaining podcast for all!

In terms of feedback, I often skip a lot of the first half of the podcast as there is a lot of focus on North American TV which is not always relevant to a listener in the UK like me. I tend to dip in around the box office battle and listen through to the end. The extended specials (Prometheus, TDKR etc) are a highlight for me as you allow yourselves more time to explore the film and your opinions of it more completely. These podcasts are almost like your very own, albeit informative and useful, sitcom!

Just want to sign off by pulling you guys up on your ‘Cabin in the Woods’ review (I skipped this move completely until listening to your review and realising that it might be something a bit different)! You often talk about ‘conveniences’ that feel forced but you guys did not comment on the ‘bloody big red button’ in this review! Come on, seriously! The scene where the guy and the girl hit the giant red button that let’s all the ‘monsters’ free near the end! What the hell was that big red button for? What were they thinking when they built that system that led them to believe that a huge red cartoon button that would effectively kill everyone and unleash hell on the world would be a good design feature?

Thanks again for the entertainment, guys, look forward to exploring the rest of the site and the following podcasts.

    • The big red button was probably just the release button to any number of cages, the switches and buttons she hits before it couldve selected the number released. Its not really important as it causes the most awesome scene of the film and is thereby exempt from logic or explanation.

      • Haha, yah. I gave the “Push to Win” button a pass – solely because I was so distracted by the insanity of that next scene.

        • I kind of love the absurdity of that too, but you’re right, there’s no excuse. I especially appreciate that the button is labelled ‘Purge,’ as if that would ever be a solution to anything.

    • Cheers! Glad you’re enjoying the show Wayne – and your feedback definitely makes sense.

I’m not sure how drastically we can switch up the format (given that we are a movie & TV news site at heart) but it’s good to be mindful of the fact that some of the topics we cover aren’t quite as useful to people outside of the states!

      Thanks for listening!

      • Yep, no need to switch it up, I get that’s where you are based and that it’s all further great stuff for many of your listeners. The fact that you helpfully post the running order of every podcast allows me to skip straight to the part that’s interesting for me – and there’s always a good hour or so of quality entertainment for people outsisde the USA.

By the way, next time you want to watch a movie and be guaranteed a moron free zone – pop over here. Never heard anyone shout out in a movie here, never seen a mobile phone used either. Must be good old British reserve! Sorry to say, I’m glad it happened to you guys though as it was funny as hell listening to you all gripe about it.

Congrats on the site and keep up the good work. I’ll be recommending.

        • Sorry to go post crazy on you but… Perhaps you might consider swapping the running order at some point? i.e. do all the movie-related stuff first (guessing this is the biggest draw generally) then move into TV. Many new listeners from outsie the USA might get hooked quicker and easier that way and everyone still gets all the great content they are used to!

          • why dont you just skip to the movie talk, when I open the file in media player it says when they start discussing it.

            • As I said above, that’s what I do and it’s fine – no problem. Just offering feedback – people from around the world are likely to be much more hooked by immediate talk of movies they have or will see rather than info’ on TV shows they may well have never heard of.

Changing the running order might hook more people right out of the gate.

  5. Editors note – SPOILERS for Dredd below!

She said the top 50 floors we set to blow if her heart stops i thought he used good judgement she tried to get out of it and he was like no you die PUSH!!!

  6. I loved this episode! I’m finally giving the BO Battle a try:

    1. Looper
    2. End of Watch
    3. Hotel Transylvania
    4. House At The End of the Street
    5. Resident Evil Retribution
    10. The Master

  7. I agree with Anthony that the Marketing on this movie really didn’t do the movie any favors, Rob reminded me that when I saw the first trailer is very MEH, while I understand wanting to separate this movie from Stallones Dredd but it lacked draw from the name and a real big bankable stars(Karl Urban is the man though) and they might have wanted to play up the name recognition of Judge Dredd(whatever thats worth), Olivia Tirlby was really good and Lena Heady was good as crazy as bat crap chick…

As far as the ending goes I just saw it that Dredd is one crazy SOB & he really only give a crap about Justice and since nobody really helped him I don’t think he cares about anybody else just Justice…

  8. 1 – Hotel Transylvania
    2 – Looper
    3 – End of Watch
    4 – Curve
    5 – Won’t Back Down
    10 – Dredd

  9. Anthony, you being the SR TV correspondent and all have NOT seen The Wire??? Its obvious that Ben has not seen it, racist & all.

    • Haha. Yah, I was actually just going back today and re-reading my ‘Red Tails’ review to remind me what a terrible person I am.

  10. 1. Hotel Transylvania
    2. Looper
    3. End of Watch
    4. House at the end of the street
    5. Dredd
    10. The Master

  11. I really like the idea of a prize. It would add some stakes to the Box Office Battle for us listeners. I’m game for that.

    • Cool. I’ve got that all figured out! Let the games begin.

  12. Freak! Darn you Adam Sandler!! My picks were duds this week! Never will I underestimate you again!

  13. I saw the movie yesterday. I liked it but that ending made me scratch my head and I felt like I was trolled to a degree. Its sad more people didn’t go see it. Because a sequel would be interesting.

  14. Just watched Dredd and I enjoyed it. This movie struck me as kind of a throwback to the over-the-top ulta-violence of the 1980’s and Dredd himself reminded me of Robocop.
