A hilarious Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot mod turns Goku into a goose that resembles the protagonist of Untitled Goose GameThe new installment of the Dragon Ball Z video game franchise was released yesterday for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an action-RPG focused on Goku's character, and in the game's trailer the developer, Bandai Namco, revealed its story will reach the Buu saga. Additionally, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will explore the backstory of the Ginyu Force, including new characters who were created specifically for Kakarot, like the female warrior Bonyu. The PS4 version of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has already managed to achieve a 78 Metascore, while the Xbox One version has a 74 at the time of this writing.

Just a day after the highly-anticipated title's official release, a mod has replaced Goku with the protagonist of Untitled Goose Game. According to Kotaku, the author of this bizarre idea is the modder Mastaklo. The mod doesn't support custom animations, so the goose character is pretty static. However, it's hilarious to see the innocent-looking character defeating powerful warriors such as Piccolo, shouting at its enemies with Goku's voice. The oddest moments are perhaps when Gohan, Goku's son, interacts with the goose and calls it "Dad." Later, when Goku is supposed to carry Gohan in his arms, the goose just holds him on its beak. Check out the mod's official YouTube video below:

Currently, two other mods for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot are available. One of them turns Goku into CJ, the protagonist of Grand Theft Auto: San AndreasUnlike the goose, CJ has the same animations as Goku. The other is simply a Latin American translation of the game. The game modding trend has been around for decades, and it has often created hilarious results. For example, a Mario Kart Tour mod forces Waluigi to participate in the races on foot against other opponents on their karts. Also, there is a Skyrim mod replaces a dragon with a grotesque version of Randy Savage, the famous wrestler. For many franchises, if a player can dream it, there is likely a mod for it.

Online games make modding nearly impossible, and there will always be some companies who try to develop their offline titles so that the gaming community can't alter them. However, modding has improved the longevity of many titles, making them appealing well after the official release date. Luckily, more and more game developers are openly supporting modders and even releasing mod tools alongside their products. In the near future, players could see even more developer-based tools which allow fans with no programming skills to add the main character of Untitled Goose Game to their favorite titles.
