I am new screenrant.com I found it about two weeks ago and i got hooked. Good source to get all my movie info and it is updated daily which I really like. I Really can’t see changing anything about it. But if i think of anything i will let you know.

Josette Dubois said,

Screen Rant is very informative, and is updated fairly regularly. The only thing that I would change is the variety of movies that are written about. I know that the writers are mostly men, but on occasion I’d like to hear news about romantic comedies, or fantasy films. Just a thought. Keep up all the good work!

I love being able to tell all my friends about all the new movies coming up after a visit to screen rant. I would like to see reviews and commentaries about some classic movies and how they compare to new ones. Maybe watch a movie a few years or even a decade after the hype has died down and see if your perceptions of the movie have changed. Maybe make it like a weekly special that is geared toward giving advice about renting older movies. I would definitely check it out.

Vic,
I like that a lot of the same people post here and it gives it a homey feel that other sites lack. As far as what I would change, maybe open up the topics a bit. I know that you walk a tight line there with the site possibly getting too diluted in regards to content. I am thinking maybe a comics section? That could be one way to maybe fill out the site a bit.

I am a huge movie buff literally and at 6′6″ 250 pounds physically as well. Screen Rant keeps me up to date on the blockbusters obviously, but the independent and niche market movies that I so enjoy. The thing that I would change is to have a link on the first page of just trailers - other than that keep on keeping us informed.

March 5th, 2008
LOL, Reginald, you just told me that I may need to rethink that top horizontal navigation menu. :-)

I love finding out about movies that are coming up which I either haven’t heard about, or finding juicy tidbits about upcoming movies which I’m really interested in seeing. I typically only read screen rant in the RSS feed, so don’t have a lot to say that I’d change about the site.

1. Screen Rant is one of the best, most personable, and sane movie-blog site. There is truly only one thing I like about Screen Rant, and it’s why I keep coming back. Because it’s a site that’s willing to throw in straight-forward opinion into its news. And the mere fact that its just not boring. Oh, and because they tend to report on the stuff that matters.

As far as what could be done to add to make the site better. 1. Hire me (I’ll work for free) to add to the site (reviews, reporting, etc). And 2. just report on more stuff. That is all.

I like Screenrant mostly cause Vic hasn’t permabanned me yet, hahaa.

No but really this site rocks for alot of reasons. Great movie reviews, cool trailers, great articles… Cool bunch of writers.
Screenrant has everything other sites just have some of…

One thing that would be great also going back to Reg’s point, “it would be VERY cool to have the trailers all in one link”.
Also I would love to have polls on topics we could all vote for. They could last a few days and then get a new poll on whatevers going on?

One last thing about No Counrty, what happened at the end of that? I liked the film but thought “Into The Wild” was Best Picture?
(Not gonna win now).eehemm

My comments to the questions relate to the newsletter updates. They’re my favorite part of the site because they keep me appraised of interesting developments. However, they’re also something I’d tweak a bit; There’s a good deal of duplication of coverage as stories evolve. This makes more work for you and demands more time of the readers. What I’d do is edit a bit more tightly - and probably sit on a story for a few days so I can pass the full info along in fewer newsletters rather than keep up with daily updates.

I like screen Rant because the reviews make sense. They are more than “this movie sucked” or ” it rocked”. There is information provided that I use to help decide if I will watch or buy a movie. The scoops and behind the scenes news is also good.

of course, nothing is perfect, but I have nothing to comment on as far as additions or changes. Sometimes it’s good to do a few things well.

A) Great source of up-to-the-minute information about upcoming releases. It gets me excited about movies that are being produced and I think helps me appreciate the movie when I eventually see it.

B) The colors are a little frustrating with black as a background color. I suppose it could use a face lift. Also, I think you have your demographic pegged, but it might be nice to report on other genres, but don’t branch too far or you’ll lose your base. I’m starting to sound like a presidential candidate…

Keep up the great blog!

March 6th, 2008
Well at some point in the next few months there may be another redesign of the site and based on not only some of the comments here but others that I’ve gotten over time, I may finally abandon the light text on dark background theme that I’ve been using for so long.

I know that dark text on light background is easier on the eyes, plus I think it’s more inviting overall.

What I like about Screen Rant is it is very clean, and from what I can tell, organized fairly well. It gives good information, but does take responsibility for what content it gives (whether or not something is confirmed, not linking to bootleg convention videos, etc.).

Having only started visiting the site about a month ago, there is nothing I can really think of to change. I think the team (is there a team?) is doing outstanding work, and it’s definately one of my must hit sites every day.

I’ve been visiting Screen rant for a few months now. I enjoy the site because the opinions are usually very close to my own (or what I’d probably think about a movie).
The only thing I’d change is that when the site goes through a re-design (whenever in the future that may be) I’d go with lighter colors - the black can be a bit overwhelming for my tastes.

Karin said,

I have only been here a time or 2 — so not that familiar with the site yet. The black screen is hard on my aging eyes! Guess that’s what I’d change.

Bach said,
March 10th, 2008

I’ve spent a good amount of time reading through your reviews and checking out the site. There’s the good and the bad. The good: I greatly admire your honesty in your reviews, many films that are critically acclaimed like “Chicago” and Fahrenheit 9/11, you ignore and leave to your own opinion, which I think is great. However, that leads into the bad, which isn’t your fault, but rather mine. I most definitely disagree with many of your reviews, but in the big scheme of things, it’s a matter of perspective, so that’s not a bad thing.

The rest of the site is great, it can be hard finding new trailers for films sometimes, especially ones you don’t hear about often, and you have a good list of interesting trailers in the site. I’d like to hear more about lesser known films however, especially Sundance films, which you do talk a bit about around the site. Even though the site is heavily sci-fi/action oriented, it would be nice to read about other films that are making a buzz in the indie community, and it would be a great place to expand on. It can be tough finding info on Indie films, so it would be great to get more info on a daily basis here.

For the most part, I really enjoy the site, you provide some great info on new sci-fi/action/adventure films coming out and provide some fun reading on the side in the news section as well. I’ll definitely be coming back to the site more often now, so keep it up!
