‘Doctor Who’ Season 7 Trailer Revealed – Daleks, Dinosaurs and Times Square!

10 months ago by Anthony Ocasio

Doctor Who may have been cut out of the Olympics Opening Ceremony, but the sister “Beebs” (BBC and BBC America) are making sure everyone still receives their fill of the Doctor this summer. In the first official TV trailer for Doctor Who season 7, our favorite time traveler looks to be facing some of his darkest moments – again.

Opening with an awe-inspiring scene from the season 7 premiere, a showdown between the Doctor and millions of Daleks serves to set the tone for this highly-anticipated season. Proving that the Doctor is still able to keep his humor in the face of chaos, the notion of having dinosaurs on a spaceship will certainly have everyone – not only the Doctor – excited to see what happens when his adventures become prehistoric in the second episode.

However, the Doctor had become too loud, too noisy, and will certainly have to pay a high price for his choices. As the trailer continues, the Doctor, commenting on all those who died because of his mercy, reveals the always engrossing reflective side of the legendary character. River Songs briefly appears in the trailer, but without revealing any background or setting of her appearances, fans can only guess where this season will take the eleventh iteration of the world’s savior, and what she’ll be able to do to help the Doctor through the tough decisions he’ll be forced to make throughout.

Reminiscent of the extremely emotional season 4 finale, the Doctor will not only be facing his greatest foes, but will also be bidding farewell to fan-favorite companions Amy and Rory, forever.  New companion Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) has been announced to fill the void left by the Williams family, whose scenes will all take place within the season’s first five episodes, with Clara making her debut closer to the  Doctor Who Christmas Special 2012,.

Making a move to America for Amy and Rory’s final episode, the Doctor will see the sites of Times Square, as well as face off against the Weeping Angels – only this time, they’ve brought the entire family along. Instead of the familiar quantum-locked beings, Rory comes face to face with a young version of the lonely assassins, which proves to be just as terrifying as its adult counterpart. Will it be the Last Centurion who protects Amy, one final time?

Of course, while everyone will be watching to see when if the Doctor makes it through everything that the first half of the season has to throw at him, the oldest question in the universe still remains in the mind of all fans. Because - as we all know - on the fields on Trenzalor, at the fall of the eleventh, when no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer, a question will be asked – a question that must never, ever be answered…

…Doctor who?

Someone please answer this, as I love Doctor Who but never understand why this can’t happen. Gallifrey gets destroyed, and no one can get in the time war, or out of it. Questions are this.

Why doesn’t the Doctor ever meet other time lords other than the master. As in, Time Lords who got inside a TARDIS before the time war, and traveled forwards in time somewhere and then our present doctor bumps into him?

If that is possible, why haven’t Time Lords KNOWN the Time War was coming, and acted accordingly?

    Series 7 looks awesome.

The Doctor has met other Time Lords before (more in the older eps than newer). Tennant’s final episodes had the Master create a portal through the time lock.

If you want an official answer, it’s all wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey… stuff. ;-)

The Master ran all the way to the end of the universe to escape the Time War and took human form so they would never find him (Utopia), the Time Lord ressurected him to fight.
So neither he nor The Doctor were on Gallifrey when it burned and the time lock was established. But surely there were other Time Lords off world at the time, I always wondered that…

Just think I should clarify. I know my Doctor Who, so please don’t tell me what I already know lol. My point is, why can’t a Time Lord get into a Tardis in say like the 2nd Doctor era, and travel forward in time and end up bumping into 11?

Here’s how I think of it:

So, there’s the regular timeline, right? But then there’s changes that get made to the timeline, creating multiple realities and all that, and once those changes are made you can’t go back to “before” those changes were made, because they were made to the timeline itself. The Time Lords were taken out of time itself, erased from time and s***, like being affected by the cracks in season 5.

The weird thing is some people still remember Time Lords, as legends and stuff. But there’s no place in time where Time Lords really exist, so how do people know about them?

Well, the Doctor wasn’t erased, he became a legend himself, and told people that he’s a Time Lord. So that’s one way that so many cultures knew about Time Lords, because of The Doctor. Then there’s the people that probably still can remember the Time Lords even though they were erased (like the people that still remembered stars in season 5).

Also, it’s Doctor Who, the science in it makes no since, especially the time travel paradoxes and stuff (sometimes time is fixed, others times you can change it, sometimes you’d dissapear Marty McFly style, other times you’d create an alternate reality), just go with it and buy the cheap “wibley-wobbley” excuse.
