Steven Moffat had a tricky job ahead of him in Doctor Who season 7 - tasked with saying goodbye to fan-favorite companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams while also setting the stage for the Doctor's next parter in time and space. Now, after months of speculation and mysterious guest appearances from soon-to-be series regular Jenna-Louise Coleman, the Doctor is finally set to meet his next companion (yet again), Clara Oswald (as opposed to Oswin Oswald or Clara Oswin Oswald).

In honor of the occasion, BBC has released a new season 7 poster - commemorating the show's mid-series premiere as well as offering new details on what fans can expect in the coming episodes. Alongside iconic antagonists like the Cybermen, the network is also set to bring back a formidable foe from classic Doctor Who adventuring - the Ice Warriors.

The season 7.5 premiere poster follows similarly over-the-top one sheets for The Snowmen Christmas Special as well as the first five episodes of series 7 - revealing a gravity-testing motorcycle chase set in a modern time period. It should come as no surprise that the version of Clara that will actually travel with the Doctor is a contemporary character - given that nearly all companions are reflective of the people presently watching the show. While Doctor Who tends to avoid on-the-nose pop culture references, the companion role is still designed to reflect the current perspective of the audience - to help bridge the gap between the Doctor's outrageous adventuring and the everyday lives of program viewers.

Check out two different version of the poster (click to enlarge) for a close-up look at some of the monsters, new and old, that the Doctor and Clara Oswald will face in the coming weeks. The glass reflections differ in the images, so make sure to give them both a look:

Fans will notice familiar monsters reflected in the shattered glass - The Cybermen as well as classic Doctor Who villains the Ice Warriors (aka Ice Lords) who can be seen directly to the right of the Doctor and to the left of his front tire (not to be confused with The Snowmen).

As for the identity surrounding of the remaining rogues teased in the poster, we'll just have to wait for new episodes of Doctor Who to air - which are promised to include a ghost story, an underwater siege, and a period drama, among other adventures. In the meantime, check out the season 7.5 trailer to see some of the Doctor's new enemies in action.

The official press release from BBC also provides a few hints about the droid-looking bots seen in the poster, known as the Spoonheads, who will appear in the season 7.5 premier, "The Bells of St John":

Set in London against the backdrop of new and old iconic landmarks, The Shard and Westminster Bridge, 'The Bells of St John' will also establish a new nemesis, the Spoonheads, who will battle the Doctor as he discovers something sinister is lurking in the Wi-Fi.

Of course, there's more to Doctor Who than monsters, and Moffat (who continues on as executive producer and lead writer) promises the new episodes will also tackle some highly-anticipated storylines that are bound to shed light on the Doctor and his past:

"It's the 50th year of Doctor Who and look what's going on! We're up in the sky and under the sea! We're running round the rings of an alien world and then a haunted house. There's new Cybermen, new Ice Warriors and a never before attempted journey to the centre of the TARDIS. And in the finale, the Doctor's greatest secret will at last be revealed! If this wasn't already our most exciting year it would be anyway!"

A journey to the center of the TARDIS? The Doctor's greatest secret? "New" Cybermen? Doctor Who fans have reason to be excited for the March 30th mid-season premiere.
