Gerry, you're a damned idiot. Congrats on being that way.

I don't think it was a Master-like personality coming out during Waters, I think it was something far more sinister. I think that without a human companion to keep him grounded, to prevent him from doing the unthinkable, The Doctor will degenerate into The Valeyard. Personally, I look forward to that. I want to see the darker side come forth. Seeing the shadow of it in Waters just wet my appetite.

    SPOILER ALERT!

Waters of Mars is amazing. I wish we had found more out about these things that were in the glacier and why she was breaking it open at the end. Like what were they? What was she doing? Freeing others like them? I wanted to know more. That was my only critique.

This one is definitely going into the archive!

Possibly, but I interpreted as (and What T.Davis said on Confidential was) the Doctor was sick of watching good people die and the frustration led to him thinking about how his ancestors were the Lords of Time and that the laws were his to manipulate etc.

This led him close to the point of the danger of what someone that has that amount of power could potentially do and why he doesn't use his powers this way, - making parrells to how The Master chose this path and where its led to.

It may also reinforce why the doctor needs a human around to ground him, like Donna said to him, I think in her first Xmas episode.

    Possible Spoilers:

Did anyone get the sense the Doctor was sharing another mind/presence in his body during the last fifteen minutes. Almost a presence like the Master?
  • Steve
Waters Of Mars is slow to start, but one of the more genuinely scary episodes and Tennant's last 15 minutes is arguably his best performance yet.

We'll have to see The End Of Time to see if he tops himself, for which I bet he will :)

    Can't Wait!

Wow "Waters of Mars" sounds like a pivitol episode,,,(I haven't seen it yet)
also this clip I'm avoiding as I want to be surprised,,,

    Damn, sounds good!!!
  • Yes, because apparently, she's no longer a virgin. Clearly, this Doctor has lost it. RTD and the gang made a brilliant plan for allowing us to let Doctor 10 go, and it's to make us want him to go. What happened at the end of Waters of Mars was just the start. Honestly, I was all tormented that Doctor 10 is going to regenerate. He's an awesome Doctor, but after Waters of Mars and now this, he really has to go.

It wasn't about her being "good queen bess." he was making fun of her other nickname, "the virgin queen."
  • Oh definitely something is off with the Doctor. He was summoned by the Ood and yet he dilly dallied and went all over the place, trying to avoid the inevitable. He's messed with time by marrying and making Good Queen Bess get a new nickname. ("No longer GOOD Queen Bess?") He's defying the the entire planet of the Ood itself by wearing inappropriate clothing. He makes a joke out of locking the Tardis. It's funny, but so out of character. This is the Doctor as if he's been told "You have one day to live, what would you do?". And he's doing it. Like he doesn't care. He's being reckless. He is well and truly screwed in the head now. There's no turning back for him. At the end of this story, there's no way out for him but death (and regeneration).
