Marvel continued their box office domination last year with the release of Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange, the thirteenth and fourteenth entry into the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. Raking in just under $2 billion in worldwide box office takes, the one-two punch from Marvel did away with any notions of superhero fatigue settling in at the cinema, and established a firm foundation upon which to build their much-vaunted “Phase 3.” The high performance at the box office sets the stage for the next round of money making for any movie, home video.

Civil War dominated home sales in the weeks following its release on home video, which is no surprise for an MCU movie. With the recent announcement that Doctor Strange will be coming to home video next month, fans are already preparing space on their shelves for their next Marvel purchase. Marvel fans flock to these movies on home video, eager to add to their growing collection of superhero cinema. It’s not just the movies they’re after either. Each Marvel release comes with an impressive array of special features that add further depth and insight into cinematic world of Marvel. Now that we know the date that we can own Doctor Strange, the only the question that remains is what extras would be included.

Marvel Studios and its parent company Disney has unveiled the special features set to be included on the upcoming Doctor Strange Blu-ray/DVD release which releases February 28, 2017 and February 14, 2017 on Digital HD. Doctor Strange will provide fans with the standard extras that reveal more about the world of Stephen Strange and his place within the larger universe. This is an impressive lineup of special features, to be sure. Marvel never wavers in giving fans the most bang for their bucks when it comes to their home releases, which goes a long way towards ensuring a continued allegiance to the company and their films prior to the next theatrical release. There’s always something for everybody, from casual fans who might want to see a bit more with deleted scenes, to the hardcore cinephiles who want insight into the more technical aspects of the films. Marvel tends to always deliver, making the home video purchases a solid investment for fans.

Fans do also get the added bonus of retailer exclusives, with Best Buy offering a limited edition SteelBook featuring art based on the The Book of Cagliostro and the Eye of Agamotto, while Target buyers get access to the exclusive featurette, “Defying Reality: The Art and Visual Effects of Doctor Strange”.

Either choice sounds fantastic, depending on your desires as a fan, and of course each comes with the all of the special features mentioned above. For many fans of course, Doctor Strange would be worth owning for the movie alone. Everything else feels like a thank-you gift from Marvel and Disney. With all that’s included in the home release, there’s plenty to keep you busy until at least this May, when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters.
