Found it hilarious in some comments on other sites that they think it’s an Irish fook!

This is fokkin cool for him. Note to all Americans and Brits. The Afrikaans translation of the f-word is “fok” not “fook” and it’s literally pronounced and spelt like “fork” but without the “r”. heh heh

Sharlto would be great. Also, regarding the accent, it is a very strong “Afrikaanse” accent which not even all Afrikaners have,most are fully bilingual. Agreed, the English-speaking population sounds slightly more British even neutral, so I think the transition should be just fine for him.

Great choice! Copley will be brilliant as Murdock as he will definitely be able to pull off the eccentric character well. And btw, not many people know that accents and offbeat impersonations happen to be one of his specialties, so I have no doubt he’ll do an American accent very well. In district 9 he portrayed an Afrikaans speaking South African, and excelled at that.
look forward to seeing the A team on the Big screen!

Andy: The accent Copley used in D9 wasn’t his real accent. In the movie he played an Afrikaner, whereas he’s really of the English-speaking population. We have much less thick accents.

This is a pretty credible rumor… Copley recently said in a South African interview that he was in negotiations for a movie filming in Vancouver, to be released in summer, and where he would not be using a South African accent. Also, find the short film “Hellweek” (it’s on the Internets somewhere) where he plays an American drill sargeant. He is very funny, and looks good with a buzzcut and a green beret.

Too bad Steve Buschemi wasn’t younger, he would be PERFECT as Murdock. As for Coley, I am not sure. He was pretty good in D-9, but I hope that he doesn’t really have that thick accent if he’s going to be in The A-Team. They’re SUPPOSED to be Americans, so I hope he can lose the South African accent for that. I still think Woody Harrelson would have made a great Murdock, too.
