Newly-minted producers of Disney's live-action Hercules, Joe and Anthony Russo, have teased their involvement with the project on social media. Earlier on Thursday, news broke that Hercules is the latest Disney animated classic to get the live-action treatment, with a script currently being written by Dave Callaham (Zombieland: Double Tap, Wonder Woman 1984). While no director is currently attached to the film, the Russo brothers have come on board as producers. The duo have been hard at work on their newest film Cherry, which stars Tom Holland, but most people are more familiar with their last film, Avengers: Endgame.

News of another live-action adaptation from Disney isn't exactly a surprise these days, since in the past few years the studio has focused on updating its old classics. Last year alone featured three: Dumbo, Aladdinand The Lion King. The next on the docket is Mulan, which was supposed to be released in March before the coronavirus pandemic pushed it to July. Additionally, The Little Mermaid had begun production earlier this year, though it is currently being delayed because of the pandemic. Needless to say, Disney has a lot of things in the works.

Following the Hercules news, the Russo brothers teased the film with an Instagram post. Along with a picture of Hades' two cowardly lackeys, Pain and Panic, the caption simply read, "A recent pic of me and my bro..." You can see it in the space below:

It's not surprising that Disney has opted to work with the Russos again, especially considering their last film remains one of Disney's biggest successes. Endgame recently reached its one-year anniversary, and the Russos celebrated it by participating in a live watch party on social media, where they shared various tidbits about the film. For fans who enjoyed Endgame (as well as the other Marvel movies the two have directed), news of the Russos' involvement with Hercules will likely be seen as a positive. However, it also leaves one big question behind: Who will end up directing?

It sounds like Hercules is still in the early stages of development, and the ongoing pandemic likely isn't helping matters. Therefore, it might be some time before a director gets hired. The same goes for the cast, though fans have certainly been vocal online about their top picks for various roles. Hercules has the basics in place (a writer and producers), and things might pick up once the pandemic ends. Until then, sit back and listen to "I Won't Say (I'm In Love)" to get excited about what's to come.
