Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger, along with Star Wars creator George Lucas, set the financial world and nerd-iverse on their ear when they announced that Disney was purchasing Lucasfilm for the out-of-this-world sum of $4 billion (the same amount they paid for Marvel).
Along with the obvious enormous financial windfall the Disney corporation stands to gain from this purchase, they'll also acquire the rights to all the Star Wars characters. There's no way to know for sure how this will ultimately affect the Star Wars universe - it could be really good or really, REALLY bad.
To help us determine if we should be excited for this transaction, we created a list of Pros and Cons of Disney Buying Lucasfilm. Let's go through them one by one, then weigh the results.
My personal opinion is this:
1. The prequels are fine. The reason they’re not liked is because of nostalgia. (Which for the life of me I can’t spell.) Unfortunatly, that means the same thing could happen here.
2. It’s a good thing George Lucas will still be involved. Considering he made the series it would worrysome if he wasn’t.
And 3. Can’t wait for these movies.
Too many people miss the point. The prequels are totally different than the originals, but good movies. I think ROTJ is definitely lamer than ROTS, just looking at it objectively. But I love all 6, with Ep 1 as weakest and Ep 5 as strongest. George is a genius. And he’s handing off his creation to be handled by the heirs of another genius named Walt.
I personally think that this is the most incorrect listings of pros and cons… ever. I think that Disney in general, buying Star Wars is a con. The whole thing is a con. Star Wars was fine with leaving the last movie be its last, and Disney wanting whatever”land” at its amusement parks is plane old stupid. For me they ruined the legacy and greatness of Star Wars, the alone their reputation.

Exactly.

What about TCW cancellation?
