This Week in TV:
Showtime releases a new teaser trailer and poster promoting Dexter season 8; True Blood fans get a first look at photos from season 6; we learn that Seth MacFarlane will guest-voice a character on The Simpsons season 24 finale; Syfy announces that Defiance has been renewed for season 2; Homeland promotes two of its season 2 guest-stars to series regulars for season 3; and USA decides to end Burn Notice after season 7.
Like previously released season 8 teasers, the most recent clip (above) reminds viewers of the increasing number of Dexter’s victims and continues to hint that the final chapter will be the bloodiest yet. With Miami police seemingly closing in on Dexter, the finale is sure to be violent and explosive, no matter which route the show’s producers choose to go in. Of course, the big questions looming over the final season are Will Dexter die? And if so, how?
The newest trailer and poster (below) certainly suggest that he may become his own final victim:

Season 8 picks up six months after LaGuerta’s murder, an event that seriously strained Dexter and Deb’s relationship. He’ll have to deal with the fallout as the series attempts to tie up all its loose ends and provide a thrilling and fitting end to the troubled title character.
Tune in to see the epic conclusion when Dexter season 8 premieres June 30, 2013 on Showtime.

Last week, fans got to feast their eyes on the latest True Blood season 6 trailer, which promised a human uprising against the creatures of Bon Temps. It certainly seems like the pace and the action will pick up as the battle ensues, which may simplify some of the character relationships and replace some of the more soapy storylines that the series has been known for at times.
Of course, there are still plenty of unanswered questions – many of which surround the mysterious half-vampire, half-fairy Warlow – and these new photos may not answer them, but at least the serve the purpose of whetting fans insatiable appetites for everything True Blood.
Sink your teeth into True Blood season 6 when it premieres on June 16, 2013 on HBO.
MacFarlane, who is best known for writing, producing, directing and providing voices for his own animated shows, will be making his first guest voice appearance on FOX’s other hugely successful and long-running animated series. MacFarlane is set to voice a charming married man named Ben, whom Marge inadvertently meets on a swingers’ website. In the episode, Ben’s wife will be voiced by stand-up comedian Lisa Lampanelli.
Considering MacFarlane works for the same network and has cited The Simpsons as an inspiration, it may seem surprising that he’s never crossed over as a guest star before. The most likely reason he hasn’t is simply how busy he is. Of course, MacFarlane is still heavily involved with Family Guy, American Dad and was devoting plenty of time to The Cleveland Show as well before it got cancelled this year. In the past couple of years, he’s also launched a feature film career with Ted and the upcoming A Million Ways to Die in the West.
The Simpsons season 24 finale airs tonight @8pm on FOX.
