‘Dexter’ Season 7 Trailer: Deb vs. Dexter & Deaths Galore

Published 3 years ago by , Updated November 9th, 2012 at 6:45 pm,

Just recently, some new photos from the seventh season of Dexter gave us our first look at Yvonne Strahovski, Ray Stevenson and Jason Gedrick in the serial killer drama, but they weren’t all that revelatory. Now, a new trailer for the penultimate season of the Showtime series has arrived and we finally get some hints at all the chaos, danger and intrigue that’s coming Dexter’s way.

(Of course, if you want to know what’s going to happen, you could just check out our Dexter season 7 Details post.)

Funnily enough, there’s actually not much to be seen of the aforementioned new cast members in this trailer. It actually pays much closer attention to the dynamic between Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), as the latter comes to terms with the dark impulses of the former. But there’s also plenty of other goodies in this new video.

First of all, the obvious question is how will Deb deal with the discovery made in the season 6 finale when she discovered Dexter thrusting a knife into the chest of the Doomsday Killer. Much of the mystery behind that drives this trailer, as we see snaps of the aftermath, including some dramatic arguments, crying, and even a punch to Dexter’s face by Deb. Even more interesting is how much more Deb looks to learn this season, especially if she’s looking back into the files of the Ice Truck Killer.

Meanwhile, La Guerta (Lauren Vélez) has an interesting storyline as she discovers a blood slide Dexter has seemingly misplaced at a crime scene. That’s likely to be a big deal for her, since the killings of the Bay Harbor Butcher fell onto the deceased shoulders of Sgt. James Doakes. Further complications arise for Dexter at Miami Metro, as nerdy intern Louis has taken the criticism of his serial killer video game to heart and has some sort of angry vendetta against Dexter (though it doesn’t look like that will last very long).

Louis the Intern is not on Dexter’s good side this season

And then there’s the wild card elements, like that bulky dude wearing that Viking-esque helmet, that quick shot of what looks like Dexter stabbing Masuka (C.S. Lee) in the throat, a tease of Dexter drugging Deb, and plenty of deaths, including someone important enough to be wrapped in an American flag.

Fans who were disappointed in last season just might change their tune when the seventh season premieres this September. It looks like the entire legacy of Dexter is going to come into play with these final two seasons, and I can’t wait to see how it’s all going to end.

Dexter season 7 premieres September 30th at 9/8c on Showtime.

  1. In all honesty I think this could be a great season, a lot of people hated season 6 and a lot don’t have great expectations for this one, but I think it will be good judging from that trailer. The only bad season was season 5 I think. One thing I did hate about the trailer was why they would bloody show Dexter killing Masuka. :(
The rest was good though I though.

    • I don’t think he killed masuka. First, he would never do that, and second, they would never show that in the trailer. So, this is maybe a dream or something else, but not killing masuka

    • I agree, season 6 was good imo, 5 was the only one that was slow and didn’t have enough conflict. I think Dexter is always the best when he’s in serious trouble like in season 1 and 4, so this one should be amazing. I’m afraid there going to completely turn the tables on us, we all root for him even though he’s technically bad, but I think now we’re going to see just how evil he really can be. He’s going to get really desperate by the end of this season I bet. Oh I can’t wait :)

      • Yeah, for the past 6 seasons we’ve admired Dexter for killing them bad guys, it was always for himself but most of us overlooked that. This time he will most likely be killing innocent people for himself, we’re going to see a new side of the dark passenger, a side we might not like. Oh man, so so so excited! :D

    • thats probably something Dexter is thinking about in his head for some reason.

    • I would guess maybe Deb is having a dream of Dexter killing people she knows

  2. Wow!!! I’ can’t not wait…to see the new season, good choice of song “Deftones change”

  3. this looks amazing! so excited

  4. I have a feeling that the body count will be higher than it has ever been.

  5. pfft, the bit of him stabbing masuka looked like it happened in the briefing room at miami metro. i’d say it’s pretty obvious it wasn’t real, but just in his head

  6. Holy crap this season looks intense. Looks like louis is gonna get killed off and they better not kill masuka. Man this is frikin awesome!!

  7. Ermahgerd!

  8. Cant wait for the season 7 to begin… I guess the Masuka scene is not real and just an imagination… As far as the US flag covered body I guess its that Cop Mike Anderson.

  9. A trailer can make anything good but I’ve got to say, having been a Dexter nut since episode one and utterly bored by it last season, this has got the flame burning again. What I saw caught me by surprise and one trailer has pencilled this is as a must watch again.

  10. I’ve been pretty critical about last season because IMO it was the worst of the series but this trailer gives me hope about what’s coming next.
On a side note I’ll bet everything I have that the scene of Masuka being stabbed is a dream.

  11. Holy crap, I love it, we are all so excited! Like Christmas morning when I was a kid. I hate to see Dex come to an end, but I get it. How it ends…the suspense is killing me. It’s nice to see his Dark Passenger come out, lol. So many friends and family are waiting anxiously!! Sunday Sept. 30th, 9:00 Dexter sweat shirt, Dexter beer urn, living room full of good company. I can’t wait :)
