‘Dexter’ Season 7 Poster; Images Tease Killer New Characters

3 years ago by

Word from the Television Critics Association press tour made it clear that Showtime is interested in a ninth season of their serial killer drama Dexter, even if producers and star Michael C. Hall are currently stating that the eighth season of the show will be the last.

However, two years still have to go by before a final decision can be made. For fans, the focus is really on the forthcoming seventh season of the series – which just debuted an official promo poster along with a few new images that give us our first look at cast members Yvonne Strhovski, Jason Gedrick and Ray Stevenson.

Check out the official Dexter season seven poster below:

Complete with a couple witty taglines hinting at the obstacles Dexter and Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) will have to overcome after last season’s finale, the poster’s use of that signature cheek slice – could imply that the killer has become a victim of his own actions (or, possibly, that the hunter has become the hunted). Otherwise, Showtime is playing the story pretty close to the chest as the season seven premiere footage at Comic-Con only showed the first two minutes of the first episode – and held back hints about the forthcoming season. Even that footage wasn’t enough to give us a good idea of how Dexter is going to fix this situation, and the teaser trailer which showed fast-cut snippets in 15 seconds lived up to its name – as a mere tease for fans.

However, some plot points were revealed by executive producer Sara Colleton – including more accurate details of a new character played by Yvonne Strahovski. Beware of mild SPOILERS:

“She plays this woman named Hannah, who took off from this small rinky-dink Florida town and ran off with this older guy and they went on this wild killing spree. So when they got caught, she turned state’s evidence on the boyfriend, he went to jail for life and she started a new life. Years later, she’s in her 30s and she will intersect with Dexter. I would say Hannah is a still water that runs very deep and is quite unlike any woman Dexter has ever known.”

Now THR has come through with four new images from this season – including our first look at Strahovski as Hannah, and Ray Stevenson and Jason Gedrick sharing a scene together as well.

Stevenson’s character has been described as a high-ranking member of an Eastern European crime ring who arrives in Miami determined to learn who killed one of his associates – while Gedrick is playing the manager of a Miami-area gentlemen’s club that becomes linked to a high-profile murder case. It’ll be interesting to see how Dexter gets caught up with Stevenson – as the guest spot is said to be a major recurring role.

Dexter season seven premieres September 30th at 9/8c on Showtime.

  1. strahovski is going to have a great career be it in tv or movies she is hot and talented(speaks in american accent in chuck yet shes australian) zach levi has a role in thor 2 thinks are looking up for my favourite casts on chuck now we need adam balwdin(john casey) as a shield superior

  2. Sarah is obviously on a solo-mission.

  3. Yvonne Strahovski is reason enough for me to watch. Seeing Stevenson and Gedrick together, it looks like they could make a rather foreboding pair.

  4. With strahovski in dexter i have a feeling that this season is gonna be crazy awesome

  5. Ray Stevenson is bad ass. Looking forward to his role in Dexter.

  6. i wish they would have dexter see rita .. they way he would see harry ..

    • hes already has a good side. his dad. he needs to see bryan more.

  7. I hated the religeous themes of the last season so im hoping this one makes up for the corny bs. and colin hanks was horrible.

    • I second this.

    • @tankD I second this.

  8. colin hanks was horrible? thats a little harsh. He did well with what he had. The story was what was lacking.

    • i thought he did ok with what they gave him ..

      • he just wasnt convincing once we found out that he was the real killer just crazy as fuq. and when he was abusing himself(supposedly abused by gellar) his screaming and acting was cring worthy. I wanted to like this season so much I just couldnt I like this show for its dark irredeemable themes. and trying to redeem dexter by making changing his path into one that (in his mind) is directed by god or whatever just killed the show for me. Im gonna watch this season because honestly I think it needs to be done I think he needs to get caught or find some closure cause if it keeps headed in that direction(less kills more mos def like characters) then I see this shows quailty going down hill season 3 almost did that with the lame as DA dude. hated that guy.

        • this is a psychological thriller series about a sociopath who doesn’t know why he is the way he is but because of his human connections (like his son) needs to figure it all out. this was meant to be a journey for dexter, but because of fans like you who just want dexter to be a killer that’s why they are cancelling the show probably without allowing dexter to complete his journey. It’s a shame u can’t look at it more intellectually.

  9. p.s. I loved the mos def character “brother sam” if u can’t appreciate characters like that, ur lost!
