  1. Oh, this episode was so amazing. The opening scene really drew me in and made laugh with the reveal that Deb was interviewing nanny candidates.
The killer Dexter went up against this episode was pretty cool too. I liked how perceptive he was.
And of course, Dexter finding the guys next victim, right after he took care of him, was brilliant.
I’m really excited to see how this season pans out.

    • Rachell the women he finds at Boyds home I feel is going to play a major role this season perhaps cohort in crime or maybe love intrest not sure yet

      • Well, it was said before Season 5 even started that she’d be in 10 episodes, so I knew we’d be stuck with her for the remainder of the season after this latest episode. I’d call that a pretty major role.

  2. yea loved it hope quinn dosent catch dexter.

    • Of course Quinn does’nt catch Dexter unless of course this is the last and final season.Just think after Lumens revelation to Dexter we’ll have multible victims for Dexter to dispose of fun fun fun.

  3. This show continues to be great. My only problem is that I feel there is no way this season can live up to season 4. I mean who can compete with trinity and who can give a performance just as good? Plus how do you top ritas death. The season is definately in the shadow of the one before it. I just hope they realize they can’t top last year and instead of trying just right a good story.

    • So far the story hasn’t been bad. I am glad they are almost done tying up the loose ends of Trinity. With the exception of Quinn of course. Now they are moving on to this new killer and it is getting more interesting. Last years had some surprises that were just jaw dropping. Hopefully there will be a couple of moments this season.

    • I think there is one way to top the last season… and that is for Dexter to get caught. I love this show but any great show should prepare a great end for itself before it gets boring. It’s been very good until now (well, maybe the 3rd season wasn’t that great) but I hope they bring it to a fascinating end before running out of good ideas.

  4. i think it would be awsome if they went in to the recent books with the kids wanting dexter to start training them to become killers themselves i kno its messed up. but what could be more intresting? i mean their mother was murdered by a serial killer and i think that would be awsome. but yea this episode was great the part where you saw that chicks eyes threw the glass in the door creeped me out it was def an awsome twist. i just hoped cody and astor start going homicidal. but i dont think those kids are good enough actors to pull that off.

    • I think if they were going to do that then they would have already started pointing towards that. If they were going to do it, Cody should have immediately shut down after Rita. I would like to see Quinn end up like Sgt. Doakes does in the books.

  5. Quinn being Doakes 2.0 is my omly complaint of this season. We already had a cop get to close and look what happened every other storyline going on is fine except this one.

    • It is a necessary evil. He is not exactly being Doakes. Doakes was a prick. Quinn just has a hunch and he is the only one in the department that is not just looking at Dexter as just another nerd. As I said before, I hope he ends up like Doakes does in the books.

      • It wasn’t as simple as Doakes is a prick. Doakes was able to see Dex for who he really was partly because he had a monster in him as well he worked so hard to fight it in him self that he knew what it looked like in others it’s part of the reason he became a cop after his special ops life.

Doakes was a decent guy but he had a deep darkness with in him self. Like he said he left his wife because he was afraid he’d snap and kill her. He had experienced to much.

  6. This season has already turned out to be a lot better than I expected. I wasn’t too happy with Rita’s death but they’ve handled it well and started wrapping it up as fast as I hoped. I’m interested in Dexter’s relationship with this new girl. I read in Entertainment Weekly that they develop a very special relationship. I know now to just trust the writers because they really seem to know what they’re doing with the show. Just like every season before, I can’t wait until next sunday.

  7. I love how this show puts an interesting twist on the brother sister dynamic….almost every season Dexter ends up killing one of her boyfriends in some way.

  8. Quinn does feel like sort of a repeat of Sgt. Doakes, but to me the tension that Doakes brought to the show has been missing. As long as the Quinn thread is resolved in a unique way compared to Doakes, I think it will still be cool.

I wish the show was a little more grounded in reality. The characters rarely behave in a realistic manner which makes it hard for me to empathize. Deb, for instance, should see something a little strange about almost marrying a serial killer, then being targeted by another and having her sister-in-law killed by a serial killer. So much for detective intuition.

  9. I have a feeling we’ll discover something about this killer Dexter just took out … remember he said something about putting his women victims out of their pain.

Maybe he was a similar killer to Dex – maybe he took out the trash too. Perhaps these women had dangerous secrets; maybe we’ll find out that Dexter has to eliminate her for the same reason her captor was going to.

Or maybe she’ll end up being a ‘love interest’ (gag, gag!!) who will know Dexter’s secret like Lila did – a kindred spirit or something like that.

    We’ll see.

    • They certainly were able to “ugly up” our newfound cast member, Julia Styles.

Also, was it just me or did this episode seem REALLY short, like almost 10 minutes less of actual content? The shortest one I can remember in a LONG time (having just watched all 4 seasons over the last two months to catch up).

      • Meh I never found her attractive anyway.

        • No, nor did I. She not attractive in the slightest.

  10. Good episode. I cant say the show is missing Rita at all, her death was shocking and it has forced the writers to stop the show becoming formulaic, unfortuanately there is just no way they can top last season.

Season 4 of Dexter is always the one that all that follow will be compared to, simply because it was as close to perfect as a season of televsion can be.

Not sure exactly what this season will have in store, but I suspect the two seperate storylines, Dex’s and Deb’s, will crossover and Dexter will get involved in the decapitated people shine murder case.

  11. Anyone else suspect that the new cop is involved with the decapitations? I think she’s killing them or is involved as some kind of gang informant.

I like how the prisoner aspect has showed up again but with a new twist.

I’m not liking how the style of the show has changed though, they lost a main writer and the showrunner/executive producer and it’s really evident in the visuals.
Dex’s dad doesn’t appear in a blurry setting, camera work is different and lighting isn’t the same, internal dialogue seems off.
