While much of The Defenders will focus on the show's four core heroes, at least one scene will feature the entire extended cast. Just like with the first Avengers, Marvel and Netflix's The Defenders will function like a comic book event by pulling together different heroes and worlds. Part of this will involve the four solo vigilantes of New York joining forces, but it will also include enemies like a whole-new Elektra and the mysterious Hand leader Alexandra, and it just my hint at a meeting between Colleen Wing and Misty Knight.

Just as weaving together the arcs of the four previous shows will connect each series' main characters, much of the supporting casts will be present for The Defenders. With the Punisher the only noteworthy character sitting out, just about everyone we've met so far from Colleen Wing to Madame Gao to Foggy Nelson will be coming to the show. And while the SDCC trailer for the series showed us plenty of action involving the four main heroes, an even bigger group scene will appear.

CBR was on hand during SDCC to hear what Jessica Henwick had to say about The Defenders. Most interestingly, she revealed that at least one scene in the show would involve the entire cast in the same setting.

“I’m excited just for fans to see characters interact that have never interacted before! I’m not even just talking about the four leads. I’m also talking about ensemble cast, which — most of them have been announced, I think. There’s a scene which has all of us — the whole cast in the same room — and that was crazy, and a lot of fun. So that’s what I’m excited for people to see, and it’s sort of towards the end of the show, I’d say.”

Given the disparate roles many of the supporting characters will have, it's hard to imagine what would bring them all together. While a final fight seems obvious, it doesn't make much sense for characters like Karen and Malcolm to hang around during a brawl. It could be that the various friends and family of the heroes are kidnapped, or perhaps they all just show up for moral support.

Of course, with the characters from each show meeting for the first time, a number of comic book moments will be brought to life. Luke and Danny will have a surprising first encounter, but fans of Colleen and Misty Knight will also be happy.

“I did just say there’s a scene which has all of us in the same room, so it is possible that Colleen and Misty may approach one another and start talking to each other. I know the fans want it. It was actually part of the reason why I loved Colleen when I started researching the role and I saw Daughters of the Dragon and what that was, it’s unlike anything that’s on TV. It’s unlike anything I’ve seen, as far as I know. Yes. I think fans will be happy.”

With Misty joining season 2 of Iron Fist, the seeds are being sown for a Daughters of the Dragon spinoff. In the meantime, The Defenders will likely give us a taste of Misty and Colleen joining forces. And with the show a little more than two weeks away, fans won't have to wait much longer.
