Jessica Henwick has revealed where The Defenders finds her MCU character, Colleen Wing. Most people seem to agree that among the highlights of Marvel and Netflix's Iron Fist TV series, is Henwick's portrayal of the Colleen character. Iron Fist season 1 is one of the streaming service's most binged premieres of the year so far, all but ensuring that Colleen will return post-Defenders.

First, Henwick will be reprising her role as Colleen for the upcoming team-up TV miniseries, The Defenders. The eight-episode event will finally team up Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, something Marvel has been building towards ever since first announcing the four solo and single Defenders series back in October 2013. Along for the ride are quite a bit of supporting cast members, including Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple (who has played a part in every Marvel/Netflix series so far).

Seeing all the characters together will be exciting for audiences who have been waiting several years to see how this all played out. Characters like Luke Cage and Iron Fist have previously been partnered in the comics as Heroes for Hire, so fans have been anticipating their meeting. Henwick spoke to Entertainment Weekly and praised the upcoming Defenders miniseries, saying:

It’s good, it’s really good. I think people are going to love seeing characters interact with each other, they’re going to see Colleen and Misty [Simone Missick], they’re going to love seeing Luke Cage with the Iron Fist, Danny Rand. I think fans are going to freak out.

The Defenders - Colleen (Jessica Henwick) and Danny (Finn Jones)

Along with Iron Fist and Luke Cage being partnered in the comics, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing have also been partnered in a team called Daughters of the Dragon (which Wing used as her underground fighter name). Before we get to that meeting between Misty and Colleen, Henwick also revealed that we won't pick up with her character in New York:

We pick up with Colleen not in New York — which is crazy, as all the shows have been predominantly in New York. We find her a month after we left her. It’s really interesting she hasn’t been able to deal with the emotional trauma she dealt with in Iron Fist. So it builds to a head and she explodes in Defenders.

The last we saw of Wing and Danny Rand, the two characters ventured off to K'un-Lun only to find that the mystical city had disappeared. Considering The Defenders will be set a month after the final shot in Iron Fist and that The Hand should be the antagonists in the miniseries, it's likely we'll catch up with Colleen in Japan (where she was raised by her grandfather), before returning to New York.

With The Defenders finally premiering this summer there is a lingering question about where Marvel Television will take their street-level heroes in the next few years. It is likely that they'll culminate in The Defenders season two but in the meantime, it's also possible Marvel is planning on more spinoff series after The Punisher. With both Danny and Luke along with Colleen and Misty finally meeting, there could even be both Heroes for Hire and Daughters of the Dragon miniseries in the future.
