I agree with most here, the Speed Racer crack wasn’t necessary. I like Statham but I’m not too sure about this one. I’ll have to see something more before I make up my mind.

I have MAJOR problems with this *remake* uhg!

KEL, check out the original version of Death Race 2000!!

The original had some great “new world order” themes and the reason the Death Race was allowed was because the “state” ruled the World and gave this death race as the only voilent social outlet.

The Death race was held once a year and (this time) certain factions were using the race to take out the nwo leader. (Ah great stuff).

How convienant that that’s been taken out and this “Running Man” plotline is in its place…?! BS! I say! (IWEYS!)

I love Statham so I’ll get this on dvd but I won’t be part of its theatrical opening. ;-(….!

Um, why are you comparing a R-rated, violent action movie about prisoners trying to kill each other to the PG-rated, cotton candy movie that was Speed Racer?

Ooookay. So its like a Fugitive-MadMax-PrisonBreak-Gone-In-Sixty-Seconds-[generic-Jason-Statham-car-based-flick (and I like Jason Statham)], and as noted, missing any of interesting social commentary of its predecessor (unless there’s a commentary in there i missed about…uh, persecution of ‘British’ NASCAR drivers?)

What sort of women’s prison are those women supposedly from…Pussycat-Dolls Maximum Security?

While Statham can make these sort of flicks and seemlessly blend right back into (relatively) higher-brow fare like “The Bank Job” … Joan Allen, why are ya slummin’ ’round these here parts?
