Does “unrated” mean it won’t suck as bad as the theatrical release ?
Would I be considered greedy if I enter this right after winning The Dark Knight DVD?? I haven’t seen this movie yet, but one of my friends seemed to have liked it, but then again, he likes a lot of things I don’t… I wouldn’t mind seeing it though… I’ll send the email when I get home though, at work at the moment…

I felt pretty let down by this reimagined fuel injected mess.
LOL Vic. I’m sure nobody is expecting any sort of oscar-bait when they pay to watch this movie. The one interesting thing that I want to find out if it’s true or not, is the director’s claim that there are no CG shots, that everything was done using practical effects…
I will be keeping a keen eye mister, he better not be lying! lol

You didn’t like it? Really? I haven’t seen the rated R version for comparison but I enjoyed the unrated one. Only thing is when the “bad guys” get it at the end it could have been more satisfyint.

According to the special features on the DVD the stunts were indeed done in reality and not CG. They used minimal CGI in the movie according to the “making of.”

Kinda like “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, Death Race only borrowed the title,,, the original had a more going for it, then this.
I would have prob had more respect for Death Race if it was called “Transporter 5″.
Statham’s really cranking out the garbage lately.
Totally entering this, I love Ian McShane.
Ian McShane, was one bright spot in the film, he is great!!!

If you hold the original in such high regard, maybe you’d better go watch it again (not slamming it, I love it – but it was WAY cheesy, even for its time).

I thought the first third of this movie was awful and the dialogue was beyond bad, but the second two-thirds were fun to watch

I was a huge fan of the original film Death Race 2000 with David Carradine, and I would love the chance to check out this remake with Jason Statham since all his films have been really entertaining, and spawned sequels.
I saw the original earlier this year, and I have to say that I like the remake a lot more. Of course, the original had iconic actors like David Caradine, Stallone and Golfer (Fred Grandy
) but I thought it was way too chessy. Maybe if I saw it when it came out, I may have had a different opinion.
I really liked this movie. Sure, I am a little biased as a proud Jason Statham fan, but it was good! I liked the original more, but not by too much. I will agree with 790 that it’s a little hard to compare the two.
David Caradine was and is AWESOME!
Sure the new film looks a lot better and has some better action… (Drag it out of me)
The charm of the “original” is the world wide conspiracy that’s actually going on during the race…
Stallone and Caradine are also in their prime.
Statham and McShane were good in the new film. Like I said it should have been the sequel to the yet to be produced Transporter 4,,,
