I love Deadpool, but I also share the concern that Fox is making it.

One positive is that Ryan Reynolds is not only a great actor, but he is also a avid Deadpool fan himself. He stated in an interview that he would love to make a Deadpool movie adaptation straight out of the comic book. It helps when an actor believes in the product he's making.

I still wish Marvel had the rights to this, but we can hope for the best.
  • shadow
Actually they did refer to him kinda as deadpool when theyre explaining him to wolverine but i want a deadpool movie! And maybe hes such a badass he performed plastic surgery on himself to make his face normal! lol
  • Ken J
    @Enrique
Most likely with some kind of trickery...
  • Rik
Ryan Reynolds is the perfect actor for this role. I have been following deadpool for most my life and he is by far my favorite. Yeah, they screwed him up in the 4th wolverine movie, but they just need to take there time and capture deadpools essence and people will fall in love with him. He's like that really annoying guy you play sports with who never shuts his mouth and pisses his opponents off, but you are so glad when he's on your team. Deadpools costume is so awesome too, way better than a yellow leatard. Get rid of the built in blades, other mutant powers, and bad story telling and the possability to make money will be a reality. If the fans of deadpool like it then the word will spread. I just converted one of my friends to the ways of deadpoolism.
  • Enrique
Does anyone have any idea how Sabertooth caught Deadpool in the first place? He was pretty bad ass with those blades so one would think he'd be nearly untouchable???......
  • John "Kahless" Taylor
    @Daniel
I don't think I would have minded if Halle Berry or Framke Jenssen wore tights in X-Men. 8-)
  • Daniel F
One great thing about Deadpools costume is that it's not really tights so they can put it on screen with out feeling ridiculious. Don't get me wrong I would of loved to see the Xmen in their uniforms, but I do understand why they did it I may not agree, but I understand why they didn't. However Deadpool doesn't wear that really tight tights his clothing is a little more loose and lacks yellow lol. Not to mention he is crazy so him even wearing a dress would make sense why not put him in the comic outfit the guy is nuts he would wear anything.
  • Oscar!
@GUNSMITH, calm down. The report stated "But along with superhuman powers, enhanced strength and self-regenerating healing powers, the slightly unhinged Deadpool can absorb the abilities of dead and captured mutants." This was just from the Wolverine film itself, Wraith being the dead mutant, and Cyclops the captured one. Fox hasnt given any details yet so chillax lol.
  • I have a feeling we'll be seeing a Deadpool costume very similar to the modern comics version..

    -Rob
  • GUNSMITH
IF THEY GET THE COSTUME WRONG I'LL BE SEVERELY PISSED.
  • GUNSMITH
I HEARD THEY WILL NOT ONLY GIVE HIM STRENGTH AND REGENERATING POWERS LIKE WOLVERINE...THEY WILL GIVE HIM THE POWER TO ABSORB ABILITIES FROM LIVE OR DEAD MUTANTS...GIVING TOO MUCH..THATS LIKE GIVING WOLVERINE 8 MORE BLADES AND FIRE BREATHING AND MISLES THAT SHOOT FROM HIS BUTTOCKS, HE DOESNT NEED MUCH..DEADPOOL, RAPED BY A FOX.
  • Gary
combine excellent casting with a fine script and ananagressive marketing campaign and people will come.
  • Daniel F
Ghost Rider was actually considered successful. A not so well known character can do just fine with proper advertising and marketing. It doesn't hurt to have Ryan Reynolds attached to it. As long as they don't go over board with their budget and market it right the film can easily be successful. They need to realize that Deadpool is not a 150 mil character. Spend like 100 - 120 mil on him and put out some great trailers and buzz. The film would do fine. That was a major issue I think for Watchmen was that they set their hopes to high with their budget and I really didn't see enough marketing for it on TV. It wasn't even comparable to Wolverine, Star Trek or Terminator as far as marketing went. You don't need a well known character for a film to be successful. Did you know who John Mcclain was before you saw Die Hard? Hell Bruce Willis wasn't even all that famous yet. It had great word of mouth and marketing so people saw it. With deadpool show off some cool action and funny lines and you got it made for the most part.
  • @Tiny, theres only 2 after the credits.
  • Good idea - i dont like him in the comics but i can see how the character would work well on film. I hope they do it.
  • ogb
    Tiny just tell us
  • Tiny
Im not gonna spoil anything but out of the two special after the credit endings, the third one makes the deadpool movie seem very possible. As much as I would like to tell what it is i won't. All i can say is that there is more then meets the eye when it came to Strykers deadpool.
  • Oscar!
Yea, i never liked movies that broke the fourth wall. Maybe if he only does it a couple of times, but i dont want it to be like Malcolm in the Middle.
  • Iron Patriot
The Weapon XI procedure was incomplete, so he'll hopefully lose the optic blasts, ridiculous arm swords, and goofy pants. I think the character is still salvagable, but I'm not expecting to see little yellow boxes any time soon.
  • @John Taylor:
    >>name of the antagonist computer program in Tron<<

MCP - the Master Control Program. ;-)

Thanks for the clarification, John. I didn't realize Fox had locked up the X-Men movie rights. Wow. Seems like a shocking misstep on the part of Marvel.
  • Ken J
    @ Johnny K

I was thinking the same thing! lol. I told one of my friends that he should have just teleported back together. That would have been a cool ending scene.

Anyway, I hope they at least give him his normal swords for the spin off, and the ones inside his arms would just be a backup or something. Because he was faster with the regular swords, and more nimble with them. He seemed a bit stiff with the swords inside his arms, like he had to move his entire arm to swing those swords instead of just his wrist like with the regular swords. Look how fast he was with them in the scene with the diamonds. Compare that to the fight he had with Wolverine at the end.
  • John "Kahless" Taylor
    @Curtis
Fox, unfortunately, owns the rights to X-Men and all it's characters. Marvel would have to buy it back.

Fox is the anti-christ and Skynet of Hollywood. If I can remember the name of the antagonist computer program in Tron, they would be that too. "End of line"
  • Cat
As long as fox has control they will fast track the movie to get it in the theaters and to make money. They don't care about the quality of the film.
  • @cat: Fox might screw it up; I dunno. "Wolverine" could have been better, I guess. But doesn't Marvel have it's own studio? It certainly owns the rights to all the characters, so, if they want, they can produce it themselves. "Iron Man" was a Marvel indie production (distributed by Paramount). If you can call a $250 million film an "indie."
  • ogb
I have a bad feeling about this already.

Fox involved. Money will be the driving force for this movie. This means a watered down, pg13 version of Deadpool.

The comic book plot will be butchered. They'll cast another musician-turned-actor. And the list goes on.

I know it's too soon to tell, but I think most of these things will come true.
  • cat
don't forget since ryan reynolds will be playing the part the movie will have all the great humor that Screen Rant just loves.
  • cat
fox will screw it up unfortunately.
  • Oscar!
They want you to watch the credits, thats why they do it. If you know theres something after your not gonna pay attention to the credits. They are "rewarding" the people who take the time to actually watch the credits.
