David Hasselhoff Joins ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Season 4

With production currently underway for Sons of Anarchy season 4, it has been announced that the recent television “phenom” that is David Hasselhoff will be joining the always resourceful SAMCRO this October – one month after the series is set to premiere.

Since Danny Trejo, Rockmond Dunbar and LaMonica Garrett have rounded out the recent additions to Sons of Anarchy, one might assume that all the, well, meatier roles have already been spoken for. Fortunately, that is not the case.

In a brilliant bit of casting, series creator Kurt Sutter will provide the “long-awaited” fictional personification of one of Hasselhoff’s most famous images of the past (see below), by tapping the famed Baywatch star for the role of Dondo, a one-time porn star who is known for the size of his… I think you get the picture.

Dondo will be headed to Charming, North California as a now-wealthy producer of adult entertainment. Even though male porn stars and motorcycle gangs don’t exactly travel in the same circles, there’s a very good reason for Dondo to be making an appearance: Luann Delaney.

In Sons of Anarchy season 2, Luann – best friend of Gemma (Katey Sagal), “old lady” to Big Otto (Kurt Sutter), and porn producer – was found beaten to death by rival pornographer Georgie Caruso (Tom Arnold). Caruso left the country for Thailand, and hasn’t been heard from since.

Dondo cites a major career boost from Luanne as the reason for his career success, so Dondo will be in Charming to help SAMCRO out with some “dirty work” that is being done in her memory. While nothing else has been revealed about Dondo’s role, what said “dirty work” might be, or who will be involved, I wouldn’t be too surprised if Tom Arnold returns to reprise his role as Caruso – until “justice is served”, that is.

Even though David Hasselhoff has become one television’s favorite caricatures of ridiculousness, one still has to acknowledge his long-time stint as an actor in hit series like Knight Rider and the numerous Baywatch iterations. While perhaps not every role would fit within Hasselhoff’s range as an actor, the role of Dondo sounds like something that he could easily pull off.

With a flawless record of casting Sons of Anarchy – which includes legendary novelist Stephen King – one has to respect Kurt Sutter’s ability to continuously select the right actor for the part. Even though it’s going to be another three months before we find out whether or not Hasselhoff is able to pull off this role, I wouldn’t be too surprised if Hasselhoff’s stint on Sons of Anarchy becomes as legendary as the man himself.

  1. “Charming, North Carolina”? Makes one wonder if you’ve even watched the show.

Anyway, I’ll be glad to see Luann get some justice. I had already figured that this season would be the time to see Caruso get paid back for all his trouble in Season 2, not to mention for murdering Luann. SAMCRO wouldn’t just forget about what happened.

    • Haha I know right. I had to re-read that section a few times to make sure I wasnt dreaming or something. Seriously who proofreads this? Cause all those SAMCRO boys have southern accents on the show. Fail.

    • totally agree, i mist the last episode of season 2, think its on tnite, 11.30. roll on wed

  2. It’s set in Charming, North California. Hence the Redwood Original on thier club emblem. Great show, I’m sure hasselhoff will have a very minor role as a comedic relief…hopefully.

    • I wasn’t aware that the northern section of California had become independent from the rest of the state. As an avid fan of the show, I’m well aware of where the show is set. My comment was to the author of the article.

  3. Stupid mistake on my part. I fixed it.

The ability to judge locale is typically inhibited when dealing with anything related to David Hasselhoff. You’re just lucky I cut out the Speedo crotch-shot from the above photo. ;-)

    • Very true. Your typo will be forgiven in thanks for censoring the Hoff’s crotch shot. :)

  4. this has win all over it.

  5. Interesting….I doubt anyone saw that possibility….He wouldn’t have made it on my long list of guesses of new personal this season….On the other hand I can see him in that role….Might be fun…..

  6. Luv this show! it’s the only show my 24 yr old will watch with me!

  7. love this show my husband and i own all dvds and watch vividly but i cant say i’m looking forward to hasselhoff on there he sucks hes all washed up and he cant play tough, gay not tough i hope he has a very small role….

common kurt i know u can find a better cast than that??????

  8. Hiya Kurt..do you have to use G**damn and Jesus Christ as cuss words SO much????? You ARE a writer right? Can you think of no other cuss words??? Please cut back on using those specific ones..it is GOD after all..other than that I can’t help but watch this show :)
    Well done

    • I, for one, am OK with taking the “Lord’s” name in vain. Not everyone supports justifying censorship through religion. Just wanted to counter another person’s post….

    • I know there’s Christian bike groups or at least some that gather from time to time….This show isn’t about those kind of bikers…These guys run guns and sometimes kill people…..I think the language is pretty tame considering…

    • You do realize that this show is about an outlaw M/C right? bikers talk like that, it definately is a part of the show that makes it more realistic, sorry it’s not PC enough for you!! I have no problem with religous people, but if you’re going to be hypocritical and say somthing about that, when 3/4 of what goes on in the show is against the bible, that is rediculous!

  9. Luv this show and I do believe y’all have been robbed. Everyone deserves recognition for their outstanding performances and the show rocks! Thanks Sutter for relieving us of the boredom of mainline tv programs.

  10. This is the shows that pulls us together as a couple. Although we are the antithesis of the SAMCRO characters, there is a strangely compelling and very human aspect to this “family” that makes us care deeply. The vigilantyism they engage in is something we all secretly wish for, but thankfully, we instinctively know the outcome would backfire on us just as it does on the show. Watching the show lets join in on the rage, love, joy, heartbreak, and sorrows that we share with family and friends. Our SOA DVD’s are always on loan to new “members” of the family. We’ve got a real Jones to see the new season and add the previous to the collection. Sutter, kudos on the changes to the storyline, we count on you to keep us wanting more. My wife is apprehensive about Jax’s new look but informed me SAMCRO merchandise is first on her Christmas wish list. I will be happy to oblige. Thanks to the cast and crew, we love you all!!

  11. I think the Hoff will ruin SOA for me, it just doesan’t suit him.

  13. Hasselhoff is aweful !!! I hope he doesn’t screw up SOA !

  14. I am very reluctant about the hoff in this season. Personally he was before my time so I didn’t get to see him in his better days. He just doesn’t match with SOA he’s not the bad ass type. Me and my father watch this show together an I don’t know that it will ever be the same.

  15. Counting down the hours love this show my children and grandkids watch with me its called family nite!!!!
