‘Dark Knight Rises’ Viral Campaign Reveals Trailer #3 Images

3 years ago by

Not to be outdone by Sony’s Amazing Spider-Man viral campaign, DC/Warner Bros. has renewed effort in the viral games for The Dark Knight Rises. So far, the viral puzzels have revealed new faux documents that show us the Gotham City Police Department’s attitude towards “The Batman” following the events of The Dark Knight – and, more enticing than fake papers, actual screenshots from the Dark Knight Rises trailer that premieres before The Avengers this week.

Scroll down to see all the goodies that loyal Batman fans have uncovered so far.

The latest viral game on Dark Knight Rises Official Page is presented as a folder which contains the GCPD’s information on The Batman. Inside we have known photos of the vigilante, an arrest warrant listing the felonies he’s committed (the biggest being the “murder” of Harvey Dent during the events of Dark Knight), and a memo circulated around the department declaring that in accordance with “Harvey Dent Day,” the Mayor wants renewed effort put forth toward actually apprehending Batman. Check out those materials below:

Also included in the folder was a list of locations around the world where fans can engage in a scavenger hunt for graffiti “related to any movement in support of the vigilante’s return.” People who travel to one of the locations, snap a picture of the graffiti and tweet or email their findings to a specified address (#tdkr07202012 on Twitter or tdkr07202012@gothampolicedepartment.com by email) will unlock a frame from the forthcoming new trailer.

The folks over at the Superhero Hype have been collecting the frames unlocked so far and have arranged them into the following set of images:

Viral games are fun, but at this point it’s safe to say that the majority of us are still waiting to see something in the next TDKR trailer that is going to truly blow us away. As it stands right now, you have even hardcore Batman fans claiming they are more excited to see The Avengers – though I have a feeling (just looking over the frames revealed in this viral game) that Dark Knight Rises trailer #3 will swiftly change all that.

The Dark Knight Rises in theaters on July 20. Keep an eye out for more viral games to come.

  1. I am going to print out a bunch of those wanted posters and toss em around the school.

  2. *my school

    • warner should pay you for that. that’s a promotion scheme already. haha

  3. “though I have a feeling (just looking over the frames revealed in this viral game) that Dark Knight Rises trailer #3 will swiftly change all that.”

    My sentiments exactly man.

    • New DC comics logo in the film nice. Sign of things to come? Hopefully.

    • That’s what I’m thinking as well. The Dark Knight Rises is now building up steam for their marketing and it will only get bigger leading up to the release date of the film.

  4. Lord, please don’t let me die before July 20th.

    • I hear that

  5. Height 6’2″ ??????????????? Ha Ha in high heels?

Build – Muscular – Latex, Rubber body suit counts as human muscle tissue??

    • Well yeah. He has beaten up everybody and anybody that has been in his way. Pretty sure the cops would realize that it’s muscles underneath the latex.

      • Lord Garth just likes to complain about anything Batman he can…He does it with annoying consistency. For my part, I am very excited and happy to see that the logic of the situation is finally playing out: TDKR will begin its serious marketing in earnest now that “The Avengers” is about to open…with the TDKR trailer. Hopefully, that lessen the complaints and whining of those who were saying that WB and DC weren’t marketing the film enough…how horrible…must be a bad sign for the film…etc.

      • Not to mention Bale once again had to put on some pounds to play Batman after The Fighter. He’s probably a solid 185-190 which would be a decent size.

        • Did you see him the machinist, looked anorexic, he has had some crazy weight changes for roles, but I can see where he’s coming from. Batman should be huge, he’s supposed to be in peak condition, I think that Bale couldn’t really bulk up enough because he’s always taking these roles that require him to drop all his weight. Superman doesn’t need big muscles his strength comes from his powers, but Batman has to work out to be strong.

  6. YES!!!!!! The trailer is so soon I can feel it!! So excited!!!

Personally, I’m specifically not going to look at these very low resolution thumbnails of clips from the trailer. I want to be blown away when I first see it (whether online or before the avengers)

  7. These don’t really do anything for me. I’m really looking to be blown away by the new trailer.

  8. People-slagging off DC/Warner Bros. and their “slow marketing strategy” for The Dark Knight Rises don’t understand that, from a business perspective, competing directly with rivals (i.e. The Avengers) is illogical. Investing in marketing now would not only cost a helluva lot but also be ineffective as public attention is clearly focused on the launch of The Avengers.

If the same people could just learn to be patient, I’m sure they’ll find The Dark Knight Rises will be launched in a similar fashion and receive the marketing it deserves when the time is right.

    /Business lesson over :)

  9. Batman better not die.

  10. Beside its not marvel marketing strategy is working

    • …and it is excellent! 😀
