New ‘Dark Knight Rises’ & ‘Underworld Awakening’ Hi-Res Images

3 years ago by

There’s been a flurry of buzz about The Dark Knight Rises recently, thanks to the release of the first official full-length trailer, special IMAX screenings of the film’s prologue, and all the resultant rumor mongering/discussion among fans, based on the preliminary bits of footage unveiled from director Christopher Nolan’s final Batman flick.

Dark Knight Rises is just one of several noteworthy 2012 releases competing for attention right now – alongside fast-approaching movies like Underworld Awakening, which is hoping to become a reasonable hit during the January slow season. Today, we have even more hi-res images from both of these franchise installments.

The Dark Knight Rises

Thanks to the aforementioned new footage released from star Christian Bale’s (purported) final outing as the Caped Crusader, fans and detractors of Nolan’s Dark Knight saga have been actively analyzing and carrying on about the latest Batman movie (in ways both good and bad). Truth be told, speculation about Dark Knight Rises has been in a heightened state ever since certain plot details were revealed in an edition of Empire Magazine, from back in November 2011.

Today, we have a handful of hi-res Dark Knight Rises images that were originally exclusive to said magazine edition – and thus, were only available in scanned form prior to now (with the exception of Nolan working with an IMAX camera). Among the pics included here is a new profile image of Tom Hardy as Bane, and one with Batman wielding that strange glowing weapon first glimpsed on the aforementioned Empire Magazine cover.

Check out those Dark Knight Rises pics (and more) below:

Underworld Awakening

Multiple promotional images, extended TV spots, and trailers for the fourth Underworld film have been released over the past few weeks – with the intention being to get moviegoers excited for the fantasy/action flick and remind them why they love this franchise so much in the first place (see: leading lady Kate Beckinsale in her iconic black leather outfit, pummeling her enemies into submission).

The latest batch of Underworld Awakening pics likewise focuses on Beckinsale as Selene, looking sexy and ready to kill anyone (or anything) that gets in her way. There are also some additional images of the lady vampire’s fellow supernatural warriors, and Michael Ealy’s human detective character.

Have a look at all that in the Underworld Awakening gallery below:

Underworld Awakening will be released in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D theaters around the U.S. on January 20th, 2012.

The Dark Knight Rises hits regular and IMAX theaters in the U.S. on July 20th, 2012.

  1. Nice pics! Kate Beckinsale and that tight black stuff are made for each other.
Whats that grainy stuff on Banes skin?

    • yeah i noticed that from older pictures, what is the crap on banes skin?

    • I’m guessing that grainy material (burn marks? skin acne?) may be important to Bane’s character somehow, simply because those spots on Bane’s arms are where Tom Hardy’s tattoos have been digitally-removed – so the look is very much intentional, for that reason.

    • @Michael
I’m not not sure what they’re calling it in the movie, but it could be a side effect of the venom.

  2. burns.

  3. Think about this. Bane’s injuries and the reason he wears the mask is from when Bruce Wayne destroys Ras al Gual house in BB. They said there connecting everything and I think Bane was one of Ras mercenaries as previously mentioned by someone else. Explains the injuries an a extra motive for wanting to break the Bat.

    • thats a good assessment never thought about that

      • I thought that he got in the accident when he was a child? But what you said would make sense, given that he was a teen ager (14 or whatever) and its been eight years since TDK and maybe 10 since BB…

I also heard that the locals burned down the house that bane was in, maybe I heard wrong?… IDK

    • Well, if you listen to the prologue, it pretty much hints that Bane isn’t a member of the League of Shadows, but more of a mercenary hired to by them. But that’s just speculation.

  4. I think the spots are acne caused from the steroids he was given by the doctor I read that in one of the forums I wish I could remember fully.

  5. Is it me or does the Batsuit look slightly bigger and a little different?

    • Cowl and neck look different from TDK.

    • I was thinking the same thing. The armor looks different in front. I remember people complaining that it was the same batsuit from TDK but it looks like there will be some subtle changes.

    • His cowl looks slightly more menacing. I can’t really put a finger on what’s different but it is

    • The suit looks to me like it has a back brace,(bat brace), pun intended.

  6. batman’s new weapon reminds me of the R.E.C. in arkham city.

  7. Man,I can’t wait to see Kate running around in that skin tight outfit again.

  8. I just love how Mr. Nolan here looks as suave as possible directing behind the IMAX camera…I can totally see now why every movie he’s directed has a well dressed, suave protagonist.

  9. I rubber muscle suit man!!

  10. The new weapon for Bats, my guess is some sort of ultra tazer gun capable of disabling a vehicle.

    • Just what I was thinking, a riot control taser rifle…

  11. Need to change Bane’s mask cause that one looks really lame.

  12. Ironic, combining news of these two movies in one article, cuz I think Kate would have made a whole lot better Catwoman than Anne. (looks wise). The photo of Batman on the cycle with his head lowered is pretty intense.

  13. It’s a tattoo cover up thing for the skin.

  14. Damn! Can’t Lucious fix me a more portable size? How does he expect me to fit this in my utility belt…and all I ask was just a torch light.

  15. m

  16. looks like that the suit is more military-style,with different parts(shoulders,stomach-part)more flexible.

    • Yeah, riot gear Bat-suit. Notice too how the cape seems made from a different material than in the past..

  17. Can’t wait till both of these come out

  18. i think the glowing gun is an EMP gun of some sort.

  19. Does anyone know that the name of one of the creators of the Bane comics is Graham N0lan

  20. *is a guy named Graham Nolan
