It's not about inflation, it's about consumer demand. If the price of a movie ticket is higher than average price indices, it hasn't slowed moviegoers. If that were the case, these records would have to be based on % of GDP, adjusted for the average population during the run of the film, adjusted for those who are bedridden and those too young to walk, and adjusted for how many fruit flies sneezed during the first promo trailer.
