At this year’s Comic-Con, Marvel’s TV lineup is almost as exciting as its movie lineup. On Netflix the Defenders universe is about to get bigger, with the imminent arrival of Luke Cage and Iron Fist currently filming. The first and biggest success story so far, however, is Daredevil, which stars Charlie Cox in the title role and has already finished its second season.

In the early days of planning for the Marvel/Netflix TV series, it appeared that each of the four shows would get a season each before the lead characters came together for a season of The Defenders. However, Daredevil and co. are keeping busy while the rest of their TV universe comes together; Jessica Jones has already been green lit for a second season, and Daredevil season 2 guest superhero The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) is getting his own spinoff series.

It seems Marvel TV is still heavily invested in Daredevil, because it was announced at today’s Luke Cage panel that the show has already been green lit for a third season at Netflix. Check out a short teaser video below:

There was no official release date given, but “soon” indicates that it will be some time in 2017. The Defenders is set to begin filming at the end of this year, with Jessica Jones season 2 filming right after it, so Daredevil season 3 could potentially begin filming at around the same time as Jessica Jones and also arrive on Netflix at around the same time. With these shows stacking up and multiple seasons of each, the future of Marvel TV on Netflix is about to get very, very busy, so let’s hope that the quality remains consistently high.

The first season of Daredevil showed Matt Murdock’s early days as a street vigilante, during which he suffered (mostly physically) through a steep learning curve before finally getting a suit of protective armor at the end of the season. Season 2 saw Matt not only tangling with the Punisher, but also hooking up once more with old flame Elektra (Elodie Yung) and contending with ninja clan The Hand. There’s no word yet one where season 3 will take the character, though many fans are rooting for classic Daredevil villain Bullseye to make an appearance.

Daredevil season 1 & 2 and Jessica Jones season 1 are now available on Netflix. Luke Cage season 1 will arrive on September 30th, 2016The Defenders and Iron Fist arrive in 2017. Release dates for Jessica Jones season 2, The Punisher and Daredevil season 3 have not yet been announced.
